Thread Topic: kind of a rant
-
I told them about what someone said to me last year (someone basically called me a furry freak because I was dressed up as a fox-character), and my dad had the AUDACITY to tell me that furries are people who identify as animals.
EXCUSE ME, YOU MISINFORMED PIECE OF s---, WE ARE COSPLAYERS.
There is a bad side of our community where people are like that (not talking about therians), but most of us aren't like that.
Then he brought up trans people. of course, as usual. He said that people use the trans excuse when they say that they identify as animals, because "if people can be a different sex, than they can be anything, right? because it's based on a feeling."
Um, no. Most people who say that they identify as animals are mocking us. I didn't choose to have a feeling of discomfort whenever someone calls me a girl.
God, I'm tired of living in this f---ing house. 3 more years, guys, then I'll be outta here. just 3 more s---ty years. -
Ah, lovely. I just had to write all of that out in my alt.
f--- THIS TIMER. -
I've been able to dodge the transphobia for 4 months, and now here I am.
-
I'm gonna have a panic attack.
-
trying not to, though. maybe I should go finish dishes.
-
I'm procrastinating by watching game theory instead.
-
i'm sorry, i know how it feels to not feel secure being out and it sucks
-
I’m sorry you have to go through this. You should have a sit down talk with your dad about how it offends you somewhat.
It can be difficult to go through. I’m really sorry you have to go through it. If you need, I’m open for you to vent to anytime. I’m not the best at wording comfort, but I’ll definitely listen. 💛 -
BrownieBunny: Tysm. at least I'm able to be out about being aroace, so that somewhat takes off the pressure of not being fully out.
Espie: I actually have talked to him many, many times about how his words are harmful to the trans community, and he says I'm over-sensitive. ironic.
Tysm, btw -
Also, I finished my dishes. thank goodness. Now I only have to worry about what the hell I'ma do tomorrow lmao /lh
-
that’s inconsiderate of him. that’s like saying your child’s feelings aren’t valid
-
That's basically what he is saying. He doesn't care whether his opinion is harmful or not, he just wants to prove me wrong with misinformation.
Like, back to the original topic, he said that he read a news article where they had to ban anything furry related at a school because people were requesting litter in the bathrooms.
Like??? Okay??? That's ONE school. That isn't the entire furry community. Jeezus f---ing Christ.
And then my sister said that she doesn't """accept""" furries. w h a t.
that-
that doesn't make any sense???? Is she stupid or what?
Basically, they are both idiots who honestly don't deserve to have opinions! /neg -
hold on, I'm confused. Isn't the definition of "Furry" in this context, "a person who identifies with and enjoys dressing as an animal especially as a member of a subculture devoted to the practice"?
-
And, yeah, that's a serious dick move.
Nobody gets to invalidate anyone else's feelings.
I will never understand people who think kids/minors in general don't have opinions. -
From my personal experience in the fandom, it's people who dress up as animal characters that have human characteristics, aka "fursonas".
We don't identify as the animal we are playing as, it's just a costume. It's the same with any other cosplay.
