Maybe this might help. @thatcoolperson, do you think that making the statement "I'm sorry" is an apology? Is an apology just the words themselves to you? If so, I can understand why you would think the way you do.
The people who don't accept your apology don't care if you say the words "I'm sorry." We only care about your actions and also that you show understanding as to why your words were hurtful.
Something like "hey I didn't intend for my words to be hurtful, but regardless,I can see they have caused damage so I am apologizing for the damage they have caused."
Just saying you're sorry makes it seem like you're just trying to save face and/or that you were only sorry you were called out. -
