Not putting this in the wine cellar since I don't want a full debate just a yes or no.
And maybe why you think so?
I won't be mean regardless of your opinion -
Yes. Referring to people by only their name would get annoying and repetitive
-
No pronouns are useless /j
-
Heh?
I guess so -
It depends on what language you speak! Some languages don't have them. In English it's a part of our sentence structure so I suppose you could get rid of them but it would be really hard.
-
Yes, for practical purposes
but personally I wish they weren't gendered at all, like we see in other languages. For example, in Armenian, the same word is used for both he and she. I don't think there was ever a real reason to bring gender into grammar anyways..
But at least we aren't like the French, who gender their tables and chairs for some reason? -
Key word: need? To that, I say no. Not really.
-
Maybe no at one point but our culture has developed so much that if you took them away right here right now it would be pretty weird.
-
adding yes again bc I, we and us are also pronouns and things would get confusing without them. Lol.
-
hdskflfds last one i promise
gendered pronouns? no, we don't need them at all.
pronouns in general? yes. -
-
I absolutely agree with Porcelain on the no gendered pronouns comment. Being agenderflux, this would be the best thing. And, I do just go by my name, sometimes, and no pronouns at all, but as Breadgirl stated, it gets repetitive and it's just not practical.
-
Yes.
Having to use someone's name to reference them repeatedly would be exceedingly annoying. -

I actually HAVE to disagree on this one, but NOT for the reason you all might believe.
Ever heard of "The Pronoun Game"?
It's a term used whenever a writer uses pronouns to reference people one too many times.
EX: "He refused to move, and neither he nor she understood why. He had been repeatedly asking him to get out of the way, however he wouldn't."
(yes, I came up with this on the fly.)
At least with gendered pronouns, you can make slight distinctions, however if you replaced these all with "They" or "Them" it would be even WORSE.
we don't need things like "They refused to move, and neither of them understood why. they had been repeatedly asking them to get out of the way, however they wouldn't."
it gets worse when you consider the fact that "they/them" are ALSO commonly used as PLURAL pronouns.
So yes, I disagree. Not having gendered pronouns would make things even HARDER to distinct, especially with things like "The Pronoun Game".
