Communication really does solve everything

Biggest think I'm learning is to not put up with arbitrary standards of perfection. Hold your employers to actionable plans for their expectations of you. Don't play the "your performance is lacking" game when they refuse to communicate what their expectations are.

I'm very self critical so it's a long journey to learning that it's not about your work. No matter how much effort you put in they'll always squeeze more. Never acknowledging your effort only criticizing your failures.
That is a toxic relationship. Value communication in the work place. -
Also if they offer a verbal raise and never follow through 🚩🚩🚩

Going to look for other avenues of employment. I'll find another option and have a serious discussion with him that doesn't hinge on his belief that he's my only option. Gotta stand up for myself and assert that I'm not so desperate for work that I'll put up with it

I do feel very manipulated. I spent the last six months absolutely devastated thinking that I was just the worst employee on earth and that I just needed to work harder to gain their approval.
So glady coworker confided in me that she was getting the same treatment. Its made me realize that I'm not the problem. -
