I think it was to stop people from posting links as soon as you get on so that you can hack people or send them to inappropriate websites. Also it is there so people who got banned can’t just use an alt and post tons of bed links. I like the system and I cannot argue with it. It is also why there is a big leap from novice to junior, it is as in the mods get to ‘know and trust’ you during that time, so they can trust you to post links
