Were gonna have a good day

hikes are extremely refreshing
keep in mind you don’t have to go on treadmills; going outside is a choice too -
Yeah, but to hike anywhere I’d have to drive and sometimes that’s just too much effort to ask my parents to drive me somewhere lol

First day of basketball tryouts
-
So my offense isn’t very good, but I’m good at defense. People keep saying that they’re gonna cut people, but unless they know something that I don’t, everyone should make JV or varsity.

Idk

Basketball was the sport that I originally didn’t wanna do, but was eventually peer pressured by my friends to play.
I honestly loved it, it was so much fun to play with my friends. They didn’t get annoyed if I missed the shot, and even though I got discouraged sometimes, I knew I’d stick with it.
And now, being in a new school and everything. I don’t think I can do it. It’s not fun for me, and I’m gonna quit while tryouts are still going.
Doesn’t mean I won’t ever play, but I can’t do it this year. It’s two hours of my day that feel wasted, and I’m so sore afterwards. I’m 5’2, third shortest person there, and there’s no way that I can play with people who are over 6’.
I’m not into it the way that I was before. It’s super sucky, because I wish that I could be taller or better or whatever. -
I don’t even know what to do. I’m not gonna drag myself around for two hours and feel like s--- afterwards. I’ll do conditioning after school, I’ll get into really good shape, but I feel sick after basketball and I don’t wanna feel that way.
I’m not excited for it at all, and I know that I just like to play it for fun. I’m not good at team sports or communicating while playing them, and it’s just a me problem. -
But everyone keeps saying things like, “But this is what colleges want to see.”
And I’ll say to them, “I know, but I really hate it.”
And they go, “Just do it.”
Like people who usually understand things like that are even telling me that I can’t quit. -
So I’m gonna talk to my parents and just tell them that I won’t play anymore.
I wanna try softball this year, so I’m gonna do a lot of conditioning. I also need to practice so I think I need to find a way to do that too. -
I understand moving into a new school is really hard, especially in things you enjoyed with your friends. don’t feel pressured to do something you don’t want to do tho; taking a break is fine too. wishing you the best 💛

Thank you!

They probably tell you to not quit because if you've gotten too far then why stop? But I get how you feel I also felt the same with Baseball wishing I was taller or this and that. I started feeling burned out by my senior year so it was one more year left so I didn't have to keep pushing for long. You're not the only one feeling like that though.
If you only like the sport for fun and not competitively then you should look and do research about clubs/groups who play it for fun and aren't there competitively. Being in a team where everyone is there competitively and don't wanna f--- up is gonna add a lot of pressure to be honest, so if you think that's a lot then yeah quitting is probably the best thing, especially with having education to deal with. You could still play for fun and still try to get better, that could help with getting your confidence up and could maybe spark that fire again to play competitively. I wish you the best with school and sports, being a student athlete is an experience -
Thank you so much!

Hey Cham
I’m sorry i don’t see this sooner.
I hope you feel better about the school situation, it’s never easy to detach from your old friends. I hope you feel better, and if you ever want to talk I can lend an ear.
