Thread Topic: Regarding the introduction thread:
-
The current introduction thread is cluttered and full of duplicates. I'd like to make a new one, and I suggest the following measures be taken to keep it tidy:
šKeep the thread locked until someone has requested to post in it. Lock it again once they've made their entry.
š Require that an account have existed for a certain amount of time before it can post in the thread.
š Delete any prior entries from a user immediately when they post a new introduction.
š Delete absolutely every off-topic post, without exception.
These are just my suggestions; we're asking for input.
If we do make the new thread, it'll have to wait until the mods have their delete button back.
The questions I'm posing are these, and I encourage you to answer as many of them as you can:
1.) Do you want a more organized introduction thread?
2.) Would you consider this over-regulation?
3.) Do you have any suggestions for measures that should be taken?
4.) What are your thoughts on each of the measures I've suggested above?

y'all..... I typed all of this up on my phone........ and made the bullet points cute little keys................. ples

1.) YES. Itās so cluttered
2.) no, itās much more organized
3.) nah
4.) theyāre all good -
A new thread is fine but I don't like the idea of having to request to post in it. I believe that would make posting in the thread become an awkward and clumsy process, and would be confusing for new users to navigate. It just doesn't sound very efficient and I'd prefer clutter to something like that.

I think the points/ideas you laid out are good. I canāt think of anything else I would add. Itās gotten messy and a new one would be nice.
-
I love al ideas except for the lock thing
-
The idea for locking the thread is so that we can keep track of new posts and delete duplicates. I guess an alternative might be requesting that anyone that makes a new intro post find a mod and let them know, or maybe have a dedicated thread for them to post in.
-
What if in the intro thread, itās actually full of links to different threads.
Ex:
-
Mod:
ChameleonLeap (it would be linked to a thread)
etc,
-
Basically the thread that each userās name links to goes to a thread that the user made. Where they can use separate posts to organize their intro? -
Maybe make:/pin a thread only for users that wants to post say āIntro thread please ā then the mod sees it and locks it after without
Exceptions -
In the updates forum I meant
-
I don't know about that, that's a pretty drastic change. We can definitely discuss it, but I don't think most people here would go for that.
Thanks for your input, Jacob, but at this point I'm looking at options that don't involve locking the thread, since that seems to be everyone's biggest problem. -
Whatās another way instead of lock thatās ākinda ā the same ? Jw
-
I just thinks itās kinda cute and simple š
But I know a lot of users might not like it -
I don't think we're necessarily looking for something "like" locking the thread. The best alternative I can think of is maybe having a thread dedicated to telling the mods you're updating your intro so we can delete your older posts.
-
And how will that work?
This thread is locked, therefore no new posts can be made.
