Thread Topic: Regarding the introduction thread:
-
And Becky, I do think that's a cute idea, just maybe not fitting for an introduction thread. Maybe we could organize that as a side project?
-
I would say it'd be as simple as having people link the page to their original introduction so we know to delete it.
-
That’s easy
-
Right. So if people don't like the locking option, that'd be my suggestion instead.
-
So if they go to the link and type in their intro that’ll be in the thread roo?
-
what
no -
Glad you think it’s a good idea!
-
Yeah I still don't think that locking it is a good idea at all and I'd prefer almost anything instead. Ik maintenance can be annoying and all but still
-
What's your opinion on the alternative I suggested?
-
Locking and unlocking the thread would be incredibly inconvenient, but I do think that we could use a new thread!
-
That's fine, it's more newb friendly and older users should know their way around the site enough to be able to handle that
-
Spice, I have the same question for you. What do you think of the alternative option I presented?
-
My overall concern with this idea is that we've already done this before. The first time the thread got cluttered, we remade it. I worry that this will become a constant cycle due to eventual lack of upkeep.
1.) I'm not sure what you mean by organization, but I do want to stress that I like the idea of everyone being able to post as little or as much as they want. While having a uniform form to make it more organized might look more professional, I think it takes away some of the fun quirkiness that the thread currently has now.
2.) I do think that locking the thread is over-regulation. As for your alternative, I manually deleted duplicate introductions in the past. While it's inconvenient on the moderator end, I believe that it is worth it.
As for final thoughts: Perhaps it's just nostalgia, but I don't think I'd like to see the current introduction thread get deleted. A lot of us spend hours combing through posts in that thread. It appears to have gotten a little out of hand lately, but all it really needs is some attention. I don't think it needs to be entirely remade. -

@Road- I made a typo in my haste to post. I said I didn't want the thread to get deleted, but I am aware you were only suggesting that it gets remade.
This thread is locked, therefore no new posts can be made.
