I will admit, I was frustrated by your refusal to listen to everyone. So yes, when I called you toxic, I was getting rather heated. But up until that point, I was being very patient with you. And your actions were toxic, even if you do not wish to admit that. Still, I apologize for making you feel like I was yelling at you.
If your friends tell you that you hurt them, instead of arguing that they shouldn't be hurt (or reacting in other negative ways), apologize to them ("I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, I did not mean to"). Ask them to explain why your actions hurt their feelings, so you can understand them. Taking the time to listen to your friends is important. It's impossible to avoid hurting others, but it is possible to react in a way that can lead to positive discussions and growth.
Feeding into trolls gives them the reaction and attention that they want. In those situations, you will do more good by ignoring them. However, if your friends are trying to get you to talk to them/understand them, you should stick around and listen instead of ignoring them. You could have made this situation less dramatic by accepting that people were giving you criticism NOT to hurt you, but to help you understand what you could do BETTER. -
