I'm not even sure what the dress code is here.
I know at my last school you couldn't wear flip-flops or spaghetti straps, you had to start wearing pants instead of shorts in either October or November, and you could start wearing shorts again in April, no one went beyond that. -
Wait, you had a dress code determining when you wore shorts or pants? That seems a bit extreme, but the spagetti straps I can understand. Our school seems to have less of an extreme dresscode, but enforces it heavily. I got dress coded for wearing mid thigh shorts (three times!), when the dresscode is apparently fingerlegth, without accounting for leg and arm length. And only one person ever dresscodes people, and he's rude and a perv. So, yeah.

Would you want your students to wear shorts in the middle of winter during recess and possibly get hypothermia?
That's our rule for shorts too. And I did think about that, because my friend has short arms. It doesn't really make sense but that's the way it is. -
shorts in the winter are common here

Not here.

See, we don’t have recess, or go outside at all, and considering we live in Texas, it doesn’t get very cold.
