as a true crime fan i was delighted to find this out, the answer was exactly what i believed to have happened
If anyone else is interested: they went to live with a nearby group of friendly natives, the croatoan tribe. Which makes sense because the word "croatoan" was carved into a post.
Of course this should have been obvious, but evidence shows that they lived together and had a happy, prosperous life. Makes me happy. -
