it's v important for people to know that Alexandre Dumas was black
but let's not forget that one of his "anti-slavery self-insert"s was also a bonafide rapist
I'm all for people spreading awareness of Dumas' mixed race because honestly it is so important, and his success is admirable
but I don't like the pages of text acting like he was this amazing flawless guy either because The Three Museketeers has some really f---ed up s---, like where D'Artagnan rapes a woman and then she is seen as a villain for the rest of the novel. Her murder at the end is celebrated as a victory of good over evil, even though she was just trying to get revenge for the act committed against her by the story's "hero." But the people reading these Tumblr posts, and the people spreading them, don't know that. They don't realize they're celebrating a rapist sympathizer. More concerning is the fact that these characters of his are so alike to him. It makes you wonder what he did. -
but I'm probably concerned for nothing honestly. and I don't want to step on anybody's toes. that's why I'm saying this here instead of commenting on the posts themselves lmao. im a p---- yyy
