Thread Topic: Hello
-
I've had a very s---ty day. We had to put my dog down because his body/back legs were failing him (he's 160lbs) and he hasn't been eating much over the last two weeks. Basically, today sucks and I keep going between crying/bawling my eyes out to a feeling of acceptance and being like "okay, it happened, he's gone and no longer suffering." It's a very weird stage that I'm in right now. For the last dog we put down three years ago, I was in that stage for like 6 months (but that was also probably because I felt guilty cause I was playing tug-a-war with him and let go and he stumbled back and hurt his leg (he was kinda old, like 10) and then he started limping after that and then he just kinda went downhill from there). So hopefully this time I won't be stuck in this weird stage of acceptance to crying for that long since his legs started failing on his own and I was with him the whole time (instead of the last one where I left for five months). But like man, this sucks. And it sucks even more because mentally he was there, but his body just sucked

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to find some peace soon.
-
I so sorry that happened. losing a pet is like losing a family member.
-
Thank you
-
It really is. In a way, I feel like it's worse because you're living in the same house and see them every day whereas certain family members you sometimes only see once a year (at least in my case)
-
But like, it was also really sad seeing one of my other dogs realize what had happened. She's 11 (so this was her 3rd dog death that she's been through
I don't know how else to describe it) and so when my dad and sister came back home with just the collar and leash, she looked like she got all sad and just laid down by the couch and put her nose under it when my mom went over to pet her -
And then I don't think my other dog knows what's going on because he's only a year old and has never done this before
-
that's really sad. i dont have the words for it.
-
That's fine. I kinda figured people wouldn't, but thank you for acknowledging it instead of ignoring
-
But if anyone would like to distract my mind, please feel free to tell me about your day~

You know what's great about this COVID19 pandemic? I don't have to pay my student loans till November, so at least one good thing came out of this
-
I wish dogs lived as long as humans. And remain in their prime for at least 20 years
-
I do too
-
i wish they could talk :(
