If you'd rather enter a past piece than make a new one, I'm OK with that. But I do think it'd be cool if you recreate it or come up with a different idea! Totally up to you

If you'd like to use a short story you already wrote, you can, but the goal is mostly for entries to be new and unique to the contest! There's specific themes you have to meet.

Because black isnt a color and white is the absence of color. And because old submissions are lazy -

After seeing this and having some others point out the unfairness, I will have to go back on what I said and ask that you make a new, original piece. I'd really like to see content that has been created specifically for this contest. I hope that you understand my decision, and I'm sorry for changing my mind on you. I hope you're able to still participate somehow! -

It's fine. Though with that concern in mind, you might want a quality checker. Make sure a submission isn't stolen or such. And it's impossible to prevent past artwork. I have quite a few I haven't posted online. You might want to incorporate a specific theme. Something out of the way of normalcy...
