I lay dreaming under night's heavy blankets, enclosed in a cocoon of shadow. The moon pierces through my blinds and showers my room in an ethereal glow. Outside my window is a singing cricket. I can't begin to describe the song. Is it ear grating? Is it pleasant?
The sound is quite nostalgic to me. This is for one reason. While crickets most often make it harder for me to sleep, I find their night song nostalgic.
A night without crickets is hardly a good night.
