the subcultures are not casual, everyone looks but this article I read heavily implied that everyone was following Harajuku trends nationwide or that since japan is the country of anime (f---, there's a lot more to it than anime but nope, let's just focus on anime) that everyone in japan can and should cosplay out of obligation
