And y'know what? I'm feeling generous, so let me just give you the answer-
Assumptions. About official threads. Just because someone is posting in an official thread, doesn't mean they're already in a conversation that no one else should ever join in on. Yet this is the thing I see all over when people say their official thread is lonely "I just assume the person is in a conversation"...seems to me most of the time that isn't really the case. I would really like to have to have like five people talking in my thread at once, like in the good ol days. I know that time has passed, but geez, you don't need to stay away from my thread because you think saying hi will be being rude :-/ If they don't want you in their thread, one of the first posts or even the subtitle will say that, in one way or another. Mine just says don't come in if I don't like you, and there's not really anyone on here I don't particularly like anymore, so...well, other than trolls. But yeah, like they'd listen. .-. -

Basically don't worry about barging into official threads most of the time they're not in a conversation like you think and if they don't want you in their thread for some reason they'll probably just say so

Let me explain my thoughts on the whole official thread thing:
It has gotten out of control.
Back when it first started, it was still fine because people were talking outside of their "official thread," so conversation was still happening. People don't want to go into an "official thread" because those types of threads seem like a personal thing. Because there is the claim of "this is my thread".
The problem with these official threads now is that people aren't venturing out of them (or they are very rarely venturing out of them). If a new user comes on and they go into this forum, the first thing they'll see is a bunch of "my official thread" (or something along that line), which can be very discouraging because it gives off the impression that everyone just wants to be alone. Most people joined this site because they felt like they are alone and they wanted to talk to someone, yet pretty much everyone here only posts in their own thread which closes them off to everyone else.
The official threads weren't a problem when they first started because people would post in them to vent their thoughts but at the same time they would also go into another thread to have a random conversation with someone else or to just say hello to someone and chat about their lives.
It's intimidating to go into a thread that has pages already to it. -

I try to go out of my thread, but these days I usually just get a few response conversation and then the person is gone, so there isn't much reason to...I feel like if there was more traffic around here the problem would get a lot better. These days it's gotten to the point where I've seen The Stage have times where someone hasn't posted for several hours...and at the expense of seeming like an old man, I'll just say, back in the day you had a hard time waiting for The Stage to go five minutes without a new post...The Lounge wasn't quite that active but it was still surprising when you'd see it without a post for half an hour or more. Now that's kind of to be expected. If there were more people to talk to outside of official threads, there probably would be more people talking outside of them, if that makes any sense.

I kinda skimmed through this, but another problem with "official threads" that most of us, myself included, say "don't come in unless I like you." That's kind of off putting, not to mention unfair and rude. Unless someone is actually spamming your thread, you shouldn't tell people to "get out" just because you dislike them. You don't have to like every single person you meet, but that doesn't mean you should be rude to them. If you create a thread, it's more than likely because you want to start a conversation with someone.
