So I wrote my GTQ experience in an essay for this prestigious summer program I applied to and I thought it was really cringey and made me look like a hopeless internet addict but I'm a finalist for that program now surprisingly. Lol. Last year about 1200 people applied for it and only 129 people became finalists.
Now I have to have an interview in which it's mainly me talking about my essays. so, I have to talk about my gross tween phase on here to some random stranger, haha.

I didn't specifically mention the website. I just talked about how this website sort of changed me as a person because of all the different people that I met. The prompt for this essay was something like "write about a time you hurt someone in your community and how did you respond" So I wrote about how I became really attached to this website and talking to total strangers and they became some of my best friends. But at the same time I was distancing myself from my irl community and losing touch with irl friends. I kind of went into detail about the "older users" concept and that everybody leaves at some point or stops coming on frequently, like me. And back then some of my friends were like "oh no don't go" So I tied it back to the prompt that I had to hurt some of my GTQ friends and GTQ community and reinsert myself into the irl community for the better. But if I could go back in time I wouldn't stop myself from coming on here and wasting time because of all the good memories that I had.
I'm sort of nervous to talk about it with my interviewer because it's a strange/person topic. But I'm excited to see what he will have to say. -
