My old art teacher said that it's basically useless

Art teachers are like that because their priority is to teach fine arts and other professional subjects, not animation and cartoons. My old art teacher said that she didn't wanted us to draw or paint anime. She said because it's not what she's teaching. Anime/animation is art, but it's not what art teachers want to see.

My art teacher at my new school absolutely loves my art though, and suggested I enroll myself into AP art this year. She didn't just shrug me off because I do anime-esque stuff.
