Mason Ivanov NewbieMason is a talented technician; he builds and repairs computers as a side business
he picked up a Russian accent from his mother, but has worked hard to repress it; it still shows itself when he's drunk, angry, exhausted, or otherwise unable to think clearly
he became a demon hunter out of high school, but dropped out halfway through training after realizing that the demons the agency targeted were often innocent
using his networking skills to carefully target politicians and agency executives that were more compassionate, he was able to found the Discovery Corps, a sector of the demon hunting agency dedicated to the research and integration of supernatural beings into human society
he has five hunting dogs he got trained to suit his specific needs; the agency has packs of dogs trained to hunt, but they're meant to kill, and Mason feels that having a personal bond with his dogs allows him to function as a team with them better
his fascination with demons is so profound, he has learned a lot of Shinesque, a dead demonic language which has been presumed nearly impossible for someone that was not raised with it to learn
he's really awkward in any social context -
Mason Ivanov Experiencedoh look now it's experienced lmao

Mason and Sehei's relationship has been really unhealthy at times.
Sehei knows Mason has fallen for him, hard. He uses that to his advantage, coming and going as he pleases. When he's around Mason's whereabouts, he crashes in his apartment and the two go about like they're in a perfectly normal relationship. When it's time for him to leave, Sehei does so, often without a word of warning to Mason. While Sehei loves Mason, too, he fools himself as well as Mason by pretending he's only interested in him in a sexual context. He ignores texts and calls for as long as he likes, and acts like nothing happened when he comes back again. It's incredibly hurtful and confusing for Mason, but he's never put a lot of effort into dating before, so it's no real trouble for him not to seek out a more healthy and present partner in Sehei's absence. The only way he's ever gotten Sehei to acknowledge their relationship seriously is by issuing an ultimatum. -
Following a friend's advice, Mason eventually starts rejecting all of Sehei's sexual advances. He changes nothing else about how he interacts with the demon, but as the days go on, he watches Sehei's facade disintegrate until only his insecurity and intense need to be wanted are left. Unable to manipulate Mason with sexuality, Sehei becomes terrified that he's no longer interested in him and clings to him.
-
At some point, Sehei gets really drunk and calls Mason from his home in Japan. Mason asks when he's going to come back again, mentioning that he'd really like to see him again. Sehei dismissively says that if he wanted to see him that badly, he could get on a plane and come to Japan. Mason, very softly, asks, "If I do that, how do I know you'll be there? How do I know you won't ghost me again, and leave me all alone in an unfamiliar country?"
Mason doesn't deserve this. -
Sehei is in the area again. He comes to Mason's apartment while he's asleep. All five dogs are there, trained to sniff out and alert Mason to the presence of demons, but they know him by now, and they don't bark. He helps himself to the box of toaster scramblers in the freezer. Mason doesn't eat them himself, but he always keeps a box around. Sehei's name is written neatly on it in black sharpie.
He hangs out for a few days, and during that time, Mason finally works up the nerve to do what he needs to. He tells Sehei he can stay for as long as he wants, but if he leaves without giving him something, literally anything to show he's taking their relationship seriously, he won't be welcome again.
Sehei almost calls his bluff. He starts to leave early one morning, while Mason sleeps. The human wakes up to the sound of the door closing behind Sehei, breaks inside, sighs, and goes to lock the door behind him. Before he can reach it, Sehei opens it again, and stops in the threshold, startled to see Mason awake. They stare for a long time, before Sehei finally manages to speak.
"Come home with me."
"What?"
"You wanted me to take you seriously. Fine. Come back to Japan with me. There's room for you in the house. My family will love you." -
it'd be cool to have someone to f--- around with characters with again
development would be so much easier and so much more fun if I could test them out in interaction -
who should I do now?
-
or maybe one and a relationship analysis is enough for one day
-
I need to either draw or commission art of Mason. Probably commission. My art is subpar.
-
I have so many concepts I'd like to flesh out, and I'd like to continue my study of tarot, but I'm so good at distracting myself
-
I have had
Too Much Coffee -
he thinks he's being funny calling my cat ugly and I'll cut him
-
I'm your secret weapon-
you only bring me out when you forget him.
She's my reason for prescriptions,
and I can only hope that they get written.
