One of them was a jewel called the Star of Kazan and it was most precious to her.
One day her and Zed were walking on the banks of a river when they saw a box on the shores, they picked it up and looked inside, to see the picture of the old lady with her painter.
Annika had remembered it when the old lady had hugged it close to her chest the night she died.
Apparently, the old lady gave the trunk full of her stuff to Annika, it had clothes from when she was in the theatre and the fake jewels.
So when she saw that the trunk had been dumped in to the lake, she went to tell her mother, and she pretended she didn't know anything.
But before that her and Anikka's uncle Oswald had gone to Switzerland to do some buisness and made Anikka stay there.
What happened was, that they heard the the old lady whom sold her jewels to the jeweller, didn't actually sell them, the jeweller had given the old lady her jewels back withought her knowing and gave her the money. Because he loved her. -
nice jeweller.

lol, right

So when Frau Von Edeltraut heard of this, she wanted to go and buy it but the lawyer said it belonged to a little girl.
So Frau Von Edeltraut worked with this lawyer and pretended to be the girl's mother, so that she could sign of the papers to her and get the jewels to sell them and get rich.
How Anikka found out was that her "Mother" had sent her to a place called Grossenfluss which was a school for girls but they were very stict.
One of the maids that had taken Anikka in as a baby was worried about her, so her and two of the professers went to Grossenfluss and stayed at a nearby inn, there, one of the maids working there told them about a pupil, number 126 whom comitted suicide because it was so horrible at Grossenfluss, and they feared for Annika. -
..wow..morbid
-
hooray for public school!
-
So, they wanted to get her out, they sent the third professer (And she was good at music, she played her harp) and said that she worked for someone who knew the princess whom turned the palace of Groseenfluss in to a school, and was ordered to do a concert at the hall.
While Stefan would go to the cloak room and leave the harp case there, what Anikka had to do (And she got the message from Stefan and Professor Gertrude because the maid who worked at the inn had a sister who worked in Grossenfluss and told Anikka) was to pretend she was sick and go to the bathroom, but actually go to the cloak room, they'd put her in the harp case and take her to the carriage where one of the two maids whom took Anikka in as a baby was waiting. -
lol, sweet freedom

act 2 "the great escape"
-
But then they were found out by the principal, they were taking the harp up the stairs, and the principal said they were frauds because she called the princess and she knew nothing about it.
So they let go of the harp and it crashed in to the principal, all the girls ran away free and the teachers didn't stop them, some went home, others just enjoyed being free.
The principal didn't die though, but she had to close Grossenfluss because all the pupils went away. -
this is so, cool, lol. like a better book tape!

Then Anikka found out that her mother had come to Vienna to take her back to Spittal, and was staying in a nearby hotel.
So Anikka went to see her and she asked her mother for the truth, in the beginning Zed had been blamed for stealing the trunk and getting money, then he would go back to the gypsies.
But it wasn't him and he rode Rocco to Vienna and told everybody what happened, that's how they knew that Anikka didn't like it there.
So Anikka asked her mother the truth, and she told her and pretended to cry, she said that she was just doing it for her and Hermann and didn't mean any harm.
Anikka said she didn't care and let her mother have the money.
Everyone was furious, all the professers, the maids and her friends went through all the for nothing - so they thought.
