SKYMOON: THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Two tall men stood in a fire lit clearing. One man sat on a log, the other stood in the shadows at the edge of the clearing. The man on the log stood up and walked toward the fire.
“I am troubled by this prophecy. I have not received one for a while,†he murmured, standing over the fire, looking into it thoughtfully. “Even if it is incorrect, that would be strange. My prophecies almost always come true.â€
“You haven’t told me the prophecy yet, Westwin,†the man in the shadows spoke calmly. He stepped out of the shadows, revealing three large scars streaking across his bird-like face. “I need you to tell me, or I cannot help you.â€
Westwin laughed. “I do not need your help with the prophecy, General. All I need is a half-bird prophet to assist me. You after all, have power over the half-birds, don’t you?†He looked up from the fire and over to the General. “Or were you only bragging?â€
“General Hawkwood to you, Westwin. Do not question my power either,†General Hawkwood walked up to the fire and looked at Westwin.
“Fine, General Hawkwood. Will you help me?†Westwin asked.
“If I must,†General Hawkwood sighed. “But only if you tell me the prophecy. I need to know if one of my half-birds could be more powerful than me someday.â€
“Then I guess I don’t require your assistance anymore. Half-wolves are the best prophets, anyway.†Westwin spoke calmly. He then walked off into the forest, his wolf tail swishing behind him.
“Mark my words, Estabon Westwin! You shall regret this day greatly!†Hawkwood bellowed, hawk like wings sprouting from his back as he took to the sky. -
