Jake was a normal boy with a normal life. Honestly, there was nothing special about him unless you counted the stacks of comic books and video games that lined the shelves of his room. Jake was your normal teen who wanted something great out of life, but unlike most people he took that step. You see, when Jake was a little boy he had people tell him he was a nobody and that he wouldn't amount to anything but garbage on the street. That he would fail just like his father had before him, but he wanted to make a difference.
Jake started off small. Just selling comic books on a street corner and offering someone a smile hoping that it would make their day better somehow. Day after day passed and many people got to know him better and got to know him for the person that he actually was. Jake wasn't popular in school, like most kids, but having that job at the corner did have it's perks. So many people would stop by and talk to him that everyday felt like it's own adventure.
But, like every story Jake had his flaws. He gave up to easily and got mad easily. His dreams faded like a wasted paper bag and got thrown into the garbage. He had failed like everyone told him he would, but as soon as that thought entered his mind everything started piecing itself together again.
Jake finally got back into selling the comics books and his self esteem rose again, but that isn't what made him a better person.
Jake isn't Jake at all. Jake is you. Do you know why? You started off with big dreams and plans that you wanted to fulfill so badly, that life itself couldn't even stop you, but then it did. Something in your head clicked and you decided to give up and not follow through.
That's when someone handed you this piece of paper and you had faith in yourself again. You had faith, because you know you can make an impact on someones life no matter how small it is. -
