it could be possible. have you ever seen the communicators from the Original Series? don't they look like cell phones?? and WORK like cell phones???? tell me nothing comes to life.

He's not crazy. He's 13 and has a napoleon complex. So he's trying to make himself seem more interesting than he is.
Now he's been caught in his lie, but instead of admitting he made it up and moving on with his life, he's digging himself deeper to try and cover it. There's an entire branch of psychology dedicated to this stuff. -

Pretty much. He's desperate and cornered. So all he can do is lie more, because telling the truth and admitting he's a normal person is hard.
