Niobe was upside down in her favorite tree. Her eyes were closed, and if you didn't look closely she looked to be dead.

Chiyo stood by the lake, staring at the horizon, deep in thought.

A full moon hung high in the sky, lighting the dark water of the lake. Stars shone brightly and the smell of seaweed flew around me.

Rein stopped. "Hi lady!" He smiled up at Chiyo.
