Americans actually have the old English accents, and the British are the ones that had their accents changed.

No one really thinks they have an accent. Think about it though. If you were to vacation in another country where they have different accents than you, to them, you have the accent. But to you, they have the accent because you speak in a different way than they do.

The kind of accent that you have depends on where you live at. Do you live in America? Then you have an American accent. Do you live in England? Then you most likely have a British accent. Ireland? Irish accent. And so forth.

Then people around you probably have a southern American accent. You have an accent, just like everyone else.
