Tritanope NewbieTakes a sacred jewel from an ancient shrine, thought to be that of a recently-discovered Neanderthal religion. Turns out the Neanderthals were far more intelligent than imagined, such that they knew this particular jewel was refracting wavelengths in a particular way that kept a type of insect from invading. The insect was kept underground as it was disturbed by the frequency of the wavelength. When you took the jewel, it stopped refracting the wavelengths, the insects were no longer trapped, and they swarmed upon Earth. The insects bored thousands of holes into your flesh and ate your insides, and drank your blood. All of us except you and some unlucky others in the area made it out alive, since when you died the jewel dropped and landed at the angle that disturbed the insects again.
