There are good artists and good songs from every genre. I don't care whether you like a genre or not, if you know anything about good music, you can suck it up and admit that there are good artists in every genre. There are good pop artists. There are good modern country artists. There is such a thing as good dubstep. There is such a thing as pop-punk that isn't whiny-ass music made by Backstreet Boy clones. There is such a thing as good rap. I'll be more than happy to specify which artists I believe are genuinely good and which ones suck balls.

yeah, there are good artists of every genre. to me, I think good artists for stuff like rap and hip hop is usually underground stuff. except eminem is pretty good. and Emma mentioned Nas, good too. and even though I hate country, theres good artists in that genre that are good at what theyre doin, I just dont like it anyways cuz its not my taste.

Good artists by genre
Pop- Lady Gaga, maybe Katy Perry, but she gets annoying, and Nicki Minaj.
Rap- Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Eminem, and countless underground rappers
Country(modern)- Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, and despite her three-year old voice, blow-up doll face, and high-school romantic fairytale lyrics, Taylor Swift qualifies as a legitimately good country artist.
Truth is I don't "like" a lot of these artists. I like about half of the rap acts I listed. But even if you don't like someone's music, their talent and vision is sometimes good enough that you have to just suck it up and accept their existence.
