dw1996 NewbieWhat really pisses me off is how people say Katy Perry or Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj are innovators and that they're so original, when really they just make the same dumb music as every other pop singer. I have more respect for Justin Beiber or Britney Spears, because at least they aren't pretending that they are anything but awful. Pop is stupid, and the people who like pop are stupid (although I'll make exceptions for pop fans who also like rock and metal).

I love my metals. But SHINee has a sound that's new and unique to me. So I do like them for K-Pop. Not to mention, Taemin's one hell of a dancer.
But I'll always love the greatness of Dir En Grey's heavy sound.

What pisses me off is when people judge people for what music they listen to.
I like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. I also like Dubstep, smooth jazz, heavy metal, rock, ballad, and just about everything but hip-hop, reggae, and rap.
I don't care what the f--- you listen to, if you like it, then that's all that really matters. -

Not true. I see Ting's point.
I mean, my brother listen to just about anything. Half of it I find stupid. But he isn't a stupid person at all. My brother and I are pretty intelligent, and maybe he thinks what I listen to is stupid, but again, I'm not stupid.
I just hate when people freak out when you state an opinion. -

By that logic, everyone is stupid. We all have different likes and dislikes, so if everyone said that people who liked everything they disliked were stupid, then everybody would be stupid.

Yes, most pop music is awful. However Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj have their own independent flair. Minaj blends alot of genres into her music, and Gaga's music is ridiculously over the top, to the point where her songs are basically rock songs. I know you will disagree with me, DW, but this is my opinion.

dw1996 NewbieWhen I say the music is stupid, I don't just mean that I think it sucks. I literally mean it is stupid. There is absolutely no meaning to be found in any pop music. Yea there are the love songs and everything, but they're all fake. Relationships are not like pop songs. Most of the music I listen to actually has some kind of emotional value, which is something I have never heard from pop, rap, or country.

Just because most pop songs hold no meaning doesn't mean all pop songs hold no meaning. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you'd find a few.

That would depend on the language and country it came from. I found a pop song (at least, I THINK it's a pop song, probably not though.) that used the analogy that bullying was like a bacterial contamination, and that even though the wounds have healed, and the infection has been passed to someone else, the scars still hurt.
Then there's this one about-- Actually, I have no idea how to describe it, I think it's talking about how unimportant we are and how we're all soldiers in this world o.o'
This is the first verse, I have no idea:

I like pop. So are you saying I'm stupid? Why would you judge someone by what they listen to? You'd be surprised of how many straight As I've received. Pop music does have meaning in it. Well some do. You are just an ignorant b----. And you are literally bashing pop music... You could've said it nicer, like, "I don't like pop music, it's not my thing." but YOU are just taking it overboard by bashing it. In fact, now that I mention it, ALL of ur comments in here are expressed rudely.

Macarena Newbie@dw I love Pop and i'm not stupid. Katy perry is awesome. The are great pop singers like Christina Aguilera, Cheryl Cole, Selena Gomez, JT etc., etc., who are awesome and make great music. If you don't like pop its your problem. You should not insult others.

I just plain listen to what I like. I literally couldn't give crap what something's genre is, as long as I like it. I'll admit, I don't listen to much 'mainstream' music, but I do like Lady Gaga. As far as mainstream goes, her songs usually have a positive message and to stay strong, and she's not afraid to be different.
My point is, it doesn't matter. The music I listen to doesn't define me as a person. True, it shows where my opinions are, but I resent being called an idiot just because I listen to a few pop songs. 9.9
