I'm thinking farther back than that Ana, like 1980s Eddie Murphy. He was hilarious on SNL and in the movies Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America. Eddie Murphy once said he wanted people to associate him with the 80s the way people associated The Beatles with the 60s. He would've succeeded had we not been able to associate him with garbage movies like Norbit.
