To start off with, I only somewhat liked the book. In my opinion they should have never found Margo, or at least find her dead to bring it back full circle with the dead body at the beginning. I honestly don't think the plot was all that good. Yes it's a book about getting out of your comfort zone and not just being complacent with life, but it just didn't have that extra umf at the end that made it feel complete. It felt like it started with a bang and ended with a fizzle. Nothing that gave it finality.
Now there we're only a few changes from book to movie, which makes me happy because it kept true to the tale that was originally told. (Except I wished they would have gone to Sea World, that was my favorite part) And as a movie geek, I really love the shot composition of it as well as the transitions they use. Another thing I'm happy with, with the movie, is the soundtrack. It's a quirky book which deserves quirky music, and they delivered. -
I couldn't agree more about the book, I started it thinking it was going to be as meaningful as tfios, but it seemed like every chapter has less and less of a plot until I really couldn't have cared less about finding Margo. Akthough when they actually did, I admit I didn't like that either. It never occured to me, but now that you say it, finding her dead would have made it much better.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but it looks decent. The actors all seem pretty good, although I'm disappointed to hear there's no Sea World.
