Thread Topic: Write your short stories here.

Not really, and hey, don't change the topic, if you have a short story like mine, write it so I can read it and praise it, you can even write summaries of novels you've written, it's ok.

I'm currently writing a novel called ....yo i ain't telling you, people might copy it, all i know is its about....still can't tell lol
-
Pff, why would anyone steal it? I've got my pride, I would never steal anything from anyone, I preffer my own works.

Yeah, I hate a--holes that are like that, seriously.

Nearly every day, me and my mum Leila go on the metro to get to school, well, we had to walk quite a distance until we got there, but I enjoyed it all the same, cars were different, with cars if you were driving you had to stop at a million traffic lights, and people beep at you, and you have to look where you’re going, and look properly before you signal and make sure you’re in the proper lane and blah, blah, blah, and lots more stuff.
But with the metro, all you do is go to the station, put your ticket on some machine, and it’s small gates open to let you through, I always like waiting for the doors opening and rush to be the first to get in there and pick two seats for me and mum.
Another thing: The view, I like looking at the buildings as they pass by slowly as the
Train travels, and see people walking down in the streets, you feel on top of the world here.
But there’s one thing, when we get off at the station, and start walking up the stairs to get out, I always notice something that intrigues me: A palm tree.
It’s the longest palm tree I’ve ever seen, it almost reaches the roof, and I can tell you that the roof of the station is quite high.
Every day, as me and my mum are walking out of the station, I take one long look at the palm tree, I’d love to climb it one day, all the way to the top, and see the view, imagine, to be up there, looking at all the people underneath me, and I knew, deep, deep, deep, down inside me, that someday, sometime, I will.
And I was right.
It was a Wednesday morning, we were walking up the stairs, and there I saw it, the
Long, tall and proud palm tree.
‘Mum,’ I said to her, turning to face her as we walked up to the machines, ‘I’m so good at climbing, I’m the best in the school at sports, aren’t I?’
She tapped her hand on my shoulder and said with a smile, ‘Of course you are, sweetie, why do you ask?’
‘Well’ I said, ‘See that tree there?’ I pointed at it, ‘That palm tree?’
She stopped to look at it, ‘Yes, yes, I see it, what about it, Faisel?’
‘Well...’ My voice trailed off, should I tell her about my dream?
‘Oh my, don’t tell me you want to climb that thing, do you?’
I didn’t say anything; it seemed stupid hearing it from someone else.
‘Stop thinking about it,’ she said as we came out of the station and on to the street, ‘I doubt that will ever happen, you could kill yourself’
She was right, I was being stupid.
‘But wouldn’t it be great...’
‘Enough, Faisel, that won’t happen, don’t be crazy!’
‘Ok’ I grumbled.
After that, we said nothing until we got to the gates of my school, of course, I’m fit and healthy from walking a lot and rarely using the car, so climbing that tree would be easy for me, but when would I be able to do it?
‘Ok, here you are’ my mum said, finally.
‘Right then, see you mum’ I said and gave her a kiss on the cheek and left.
When I reached my class room, all my friends were surrounding a desk; I put my bag down next to my desk and went over to see what all the commotion was, when I reached there, I put my hand on my best friend Khalid’s shoulder and said in his ear ‘Hey there, what’s going on?’
‘There’s a new kid in our class’ he said to me.
‘Oh, wow,’ I said, ‘what’s his name?’
‘No idea’ he said, ‘This is what I’m trying to see’
Because I was so tall, I managed to stand on my toes and see the boy; he seemed like an average weight and average height, he had straight hair jelled back, and he was wearing a white jacket under his uniform.
‘What’s your name?’ I asked from behind my class mates.
The boy looked around to see who’s voice had asked that question, I stuck my hand out from over my friends shoulders and he shook it and said: ‘I’m Yasser’
‘Hey there, I’m Faisel’
‘Nice to meet you’
‘And I’m Khalid’
‘Nice to meet you too’
‘I’m Jasim’
‘I’m Ahmed’
‘I’m Salem’
‘It’s nice to meet you all’ said the boy and he shook all their hands.
After that, school began, me and Khalid sat next to eachother, and of course, Maths class was boring, except this day, me and Khalid had planned something for the teacher.
The teacher was fat and bald, he wore glasses and had a hoarse voice, and he stank, he probably only showered once a week, and he always seemed to be wearing the same thing.
So what me and Khalid did was, we put a piece of chewing gum (After Khalid chewed it a little and spat it out) on the teacher’s chair, and waited for him to come.
He barged in, in his usual way, and said in a loud voice, almost roaring: ‘Good day class’
‘Good morning teacher’
‘How are you?’
‘Fine thank you, how are you teacher?’
‘I’m fine, but before you sit down, LET’S DO SOME REVISION!’
Everyone groaned.
‘Nine times one!’ he roared.
‘Nine!’ We all said.
‘Nine times two!’
‘Eighteen’
‘Nine times three!’
‘Twenty-seven!’
‘Nine times four!’
‘Thirty-six!’
‘Nine times twelve!’
‘Forty-...’
Everyone stopped in their tracks when they realized that the teacher hadn’t said ‘Nine times five,’ but twelve.
‘Ha! The answer was one hundred and eight! You’re all going to write out the nine times table twenty times!’
Everyone hated our teacher; this is why me and Khalid were doing this trick to teach Him a lesson.
The teacher sat down on the piece of chewing gum and he didn’t know.
The lesson went on, and he stood up to write on the board and sat down to read something, and all this time he didn’t know he had a piece of gum stuck to his big, fat ass.
The bell rang and the lesson ended, and he walked out.
After that, Yasser came to me and said: ‘Did you see what was stuck to the teacher’s trousers?’
‘Yep’ said Khalid, ‘we’re doing an experiment, that piece of gum that we put is stuck to his trousers, we’ll now count the days he doesn’t shower, we’re guessing it’s more than a week, and we’ll know if he’s changed his clothes or not because if he did, the gum wouldn’t be there’
Yasser burst out laughing.
‘Oh, ha ha, very funny, what if he found out?’ he said after he laughed.
‘Well, how would he be able to fine out?’ I said.
‘I guess so’ he replied quietly.
After school when me and mum were going to the station and I saw the tree, I had my chance, the train had been delayed because some people were pressing the emergency stop button too many times, so me and mum had to wait a bit, we sat down on a bench near the tree (I had picked it) and we waited.
I sat there trying to summon up the courage to climb the tree, but knew I had to get my mum out of the way first, or else she’d hold me down and tell me to not be silly, so I said to her ‘Mum, I drank a lot of water today, in fact, I kept drinking, and drinking, and drinking, and then I drank orange juice, apple juice, mango juice strawberry juice and some Pepsi because they had stalls to day...’ I tried to add as much liquid as I could, and then I said: ‘... And then I had a really, really
Really, really, really long pee’
And it worked, mum said to me: ‘Wait here, I’m off to the toilet’
And I said: ‘OK, mum’
After she walked away to the ladies toilet, I put down my bag on the ground, this is my chance to climb probably the tallest palm tree in Dubai, it w -
So what did you think? I don't care about people stealing it, It's not like it'll ever get published or anything. :l
-
Oh wait, I'm not done:
it was stupid, what I was doing, but I wanted to do it, and nothing could stop me.
I took a deep breath, rolled up my sleeves, and it was time to show that all my sports training was worth it.
I got on to the big orange pot and stood on the soil, my heart started beating rapidly, as I looked up, the tree really did seem really tall, but I was a fast climber.
‘Don’t worry, Faisel’ I told myself, ‘Things will be alright’
I began to climb.
I put my hand on the trunk and gripped it tight, I lifted my right foot, then I put my other hand on the trunk, then my left foot and
Moved upwards, slowly, I began to climb, but then I got a bit faster, and I had moved a few feet and then mum came, she got out of the ladies toilet and when she looked at me, her eyes widened and she was shocked, she started running towards me.
‘Get down now!’ she cried, ‘You could fall and die! Please stop this madness!’
I didn’t listen, I kept climbing, I was going to climb the tallest tree in Dubai if it was the last thing I would do on planet earth, I had crazy dreams, and even if they were crazy, they were still dreams, they may be stupid or simple, but they were my dreams and my goals, and I wanted to make them come true.
I moved quicker, because my mum was coming towards me, and she could catch me and that would be over.
She grabbed my ankle, but I kicked her only slightly (I didn’t want to hurt her!) and I managed to get up a little more, she
Tried again but couldn’t reach, I tried to move faster, but the pressure was making me more frantic, I stopped to look around me, people were looking at me! Some people stopped to stare, some people working in the small café’s and little shops stopped talking to their customers and looked up at a crazy boy with an unusual dream.
I took a deep breath and told myself to continue, I pushed myself to keep going, to not look down.
Then, a security guard came, and another, and soon there were four, they got on the benches to get a better reach, but I managed to slip by them difficultly, I got more and more scared.
‘Come down, Faisel!’ it was my mum’s voice, ‘You’ll hurt yourself! You’re being silly! Please come down and I’ll get you an ice cream!’
‘No!’ I cried, ‘I want to reach the top and see the whole world!’
I kept climbing, it was hard work, my feet hurt, but I pushed myself to keep going, to keep climbing, until I reached the very top.
I was about a third of the way through by now, and the security guards were having trouble trying to find a way to get me.
I tried to move faster, my hurt beat faster, and then, I heard a familiar voice, it was a new voice, but a familiar one.
‘Go, Faisel, go! Keep climbing!’
It was Yasser.
My mum turned to him and said: ‘Are you friends with him?’
‘Yes, but we introduced ourselves only recently’
I ignored them and kept climbing, then, some people started cheering.
‘Go! Go! Go!’ The cheered.
‘You can do it!’
‘Don’t give up!’
‘Keep going!’
‘You’re almost there!’
People started to get smaller as I climbed higher, they were starting to get like ants, and their voices grew louder and louder, even though I was getting farther and farther away.
Nearly everyone was looking at me now, and people had gathered up all around the tree, and I saw a few flashes, people were taking pictures now, then, a few men wearing green came, it was the police! But I didn’t care, I moved on.
I was now a little more than halfway through, my muscles were aching but I kept on! The people’s shouts and screams pushed me on and inspired me to keep moving.
As I climbed up now, my fear started to get less and less, and now, I could see beneath me a whole lot of circles all crammed together surround the tree, these were all the people that had come to see me.
I kept climbing, then, some annoying idiot got out a micro phone (Heavens knows
Where he plugged it in) and said: ‘Young man, please come down’
‘Get lost!’ I shouted at him.
‘Yeah!’ It was Yasser’s voice, ‘Leave him alone, jerk!’
I kept climbing, people cheered more and more, and I could see why.
I was near the top.
I could almost touch the palm fronds, and then, I reached the top, I sat on the top of the palm tree’s stump and I didn’t care about the spiky fronds, I just sat there.
The view was amazing, truly breathtaking, I was so high up from the world, I felt like a sheikh, people looked like ants from way up here, just tiny, tiny people that seemed so far away, and flashes came once in a while, people filming this or taking pictures, and then I saw cameras, proper cameras, like for films and TV shows, and I thought for a moment that I’d be on the news!
All around me were people clapping
And cheering, cheering for me!!
The police threw a rope for me and I caught it, this may have only lasted for about five minutes, but I couldn’t stay here forever, I wish I could, I wish people would keep clapping and cheering, I wish I could be on top of the world forever.
But my dream came true, and now it was time to move on, I tied the rope to one of the palm fronds and climbed down like you would on a mountain, hitting the tree with my feet then hitting it again, it was like jumping sideways!
I reached the bottom, and people clapped and cheered even louder than ever before! Yasser came to me and said: ‘that was... was... Super triple amazing! I would NEVER have had the guts to do that!’
‘Thanks for starting the cheering’ I said, ‘you’re cool’
‘Nope, you’re cool!’ he said.
I laughed.
All of a sudden, a woman dressed in a suit came with a micro phone, and behind her were some cameras.
‘Excuse me Mr. Faisel’ she said, ‘But what exactly was it that made you climb the tree?’
‘Every day I see it, and I just had an urge to climb it, and I just decided to do it today, it was tiring, but worth it’ I said with a tired smile.
‘Would you ever want to do this again?’
‘Why not? Who knows what the future holds? Maybe I’ll do other crazy stuff’
The woman laughed and then continued.
‘How do you feel from this experience?’
‘I feel tired because it was hard work climbing that tree because it was so tall, but my dream came true and I feel that that’s the best prize I could ever hope for, and now I’m really happy!’
‘Well, that’s the story of the tree climbing expert Faisel! See you tomorrow on more of Al Jazeera news!’
After that, I went home, people took pictures with me and had my autograph (I wonder why...) and shook hands with me, I got on to the train, my mum was freaked out by this whole incident, but glad I wasn’t hurt in any way.
That was the best experience I’ve ever had! I don’t know where I got the courage to do that, but I guess if you really want something in life, then you’ll do anything to get it, no matter how crazy it may seem!
Oh, and by the way, the number of days my Maths teacher went withought showering were eleven! He found out about the gum one day when one of the teachers was laughing at him and told him why! He was furious and went home to shower and change, and at that time, he was supposed to teach us, so we had no math class! Whoopee!
