Chester moved away from Jayden slightly and started eating. Cleverly stood up and tapped him on the shoulder.
‘May we talk for a moment, sire?’
Chester sighed and put down his cutlery. ‘Sure.’ -
Jayden ate his food, listening to the two of them quietly.

Chester kissed the side of Jayden’s head. ‘I’ll be right back.’ He stood up and followed Cleverly out of the dining hall. Once the door was shut, Cleverly started talking.
‘Sire, what the hell is going on between you and Celeste?’
‘He’s my boyfriend,’ Chester said bluntly, shrugging. -
Jayden waved as he left.
Cleverly took a small step back, looking very surprised either with how quick he admit it or the fact that Chester was gay. "Chester, you've known him for 2 days. That's awfully fast, don't you think?" -
Chester just shrugged again. ‘I don’t know, Cleverly. But I love him, and he loves me, so what is there to me apprehensive about?’

"Love each other? I leave you alone for TWO DAYS and look what happens!" Cleverly groaned. "Besides the obvious things wrong with this, he's clearly using you! He's waiting for you to let your guard down so he can back out of signing that treaty!"

Chester froze. He glanced at the door, taking a moment to respond, but shook his head. Jayden would never, unless… no, he wasn’t about to overthink this. ‘Cleverly, why would he do that? I know him, and he isn’t a monster.’

Cleverly scoffed. "You know him? When was the last time you every truly knew someone you hadn't even known for a week?"

‘Since when have you been so invested in my love life? You didn’t care about Beatrice and she was a duchess, what makes you think Jayden is worse than her?’ Chester said, getting frustrated.

"B-becau-" Cleverly paused before he could say sTuPid THinGs. "When was the last time a Duchess had the power to start wars? Ones that could destroy our kingdom?"

LiKe WhAt ClEvErLy. ‘Jayden would never,’ Chester said, voice a little shaky as he started to doubt himself. ‘I know what I’m doing, Cleverly.

WhaT A b----. Cleverly raised an eyebrow, giving him a 'I'm sure you do' look. "Fine. Just don't be surprised when you turn out wrong."

Chester sighed, turning away. He rubbed his face with his hands. ‘Enjoy your morning, Cleverly,’ he muttered, walking back into the dining room.

Jayden looked up. "You okay?" He asked quietly, noticing his facial expression.

Chester sighed and nodded, sitting back down next to him. ‘Yeah,’ he mumbled, avoiding his gaze.
