like a mermaid/merman civilization under the sea but its like 10x crueler/more strict than any human civilizations and all the mermaids are m*rderers is that not a yummy concept to think of idk -

i can't write but i had an idea for a dystopian world and plot:
basically we got over all inequalities like gender bias like racism. There is one widely accepted or no religion and life seems perfect except, the trees are dying and oxygen is getting harder to come by. rich people are hoarding/monopolizing (canned) oxygen and poor/homeless people are dying due to lack of oxygen. Eventually a small startup lab called (insert name) decides to make a study to try and evolve humans into not depending on oxygen. They compensate well so many lower class people join the study. Eventually the startup has a breakthrough due to scientist (antagonist) A.
years later scientist A is an old and revered scientist and ½ of the population can breathe in methane and out oxygen. There is discrimination around methane breathers and the government is crumbling. This is when we meet main 1 as a teen who breathes methane she/they/he is one of the few methane breathers to get into a prestigious school where she/he/they meets main 2 who breaths oxygen but his different parents breath different glasses making him a target of scorn as the o2 people are higher class and the methane breathers are poorer. As they navigate the school together they meet a kind elderly teacher who was part of the start up soon scientist A visits the school to speak and they overhear the principal and them plan to convince the corrupt mainly o2 government to implement an “rehabilitation program” (to exterminate the methane breathers) the friends go down a path of enemies and allies to save the methane breathers. As they fight and methane breathers are unaliving main2 finds love with romA a semi featured mutual friend through trial and error and a few books one kidnapping an a lot of losses and school it turns out rom1 was using main2 and wad under control of scientestA maybe main 1 gets trapped in a “rehabilitation program” and has to escape or their family gets trapped anyways main 1 comes face to face with scientist 1 alone and they debate while main 1 is secretly broadcasting the evil plan and downloading data it takes longer but eventually they implement a fair government and save the methane breathers then memorialize the ones who died -

^^ cool plot but yeah, I think I put it somewhere in here that I didn’t want anybody posting their own ideas and only to comment/add onto mine (or give ideas when I ask for them) since it was getting flooded. Thanks tho
