‘Exactly, like, it’s not going to happen,’ Chester said, flusteredly, though was mostly trying to convince himself. ‘Like, it’s against the rules- no particular rule, but y’know, it’s practically forbidden,’ he said with a nervous laugh. -

Chester rubbed his face with his hands, trying to phrase it without sounding like a homophobic jerk. ‘I, er, well, there’d be controversy around it! A-And some of my citizens may not respect me or my family as much because of it… a-and my family might not respect me!’ -

Jayden paused. "So you decide what you are based on what other people like? That's messed up. And I'm pretty sure Maeve wouldn't give a damn." -

Chester sighed, running a hand through his hair. ‘It’s not Maeve I’m worried about,’ he said quietly. ‘I-I’ll be a target to people I wouldn’t usually be a target to. I know the taboo around, y’know, being gay. N-Not that I think it’s bad! And I’m not even homosexual, so there’s nothing to worry about.’ -
