Chapter 1
The Start of a Weird Life
Zumae looked around. This camp place was so weird. He didn't understand most of what that tan, black-haired boy tried to tell him. He found it hard to believe that he was a demigod. Even if he was, that would mean he was a child of a Greek god! Not an Indian god, a Greek god.
He sighed. The other boy looked back at him.
“You okay?” The boy asked in a heavily accented voice. Mexican. The boy sounds Mexican. Zumae thought.
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. I don't get what you are talking about though. Can you explain a little more in depth?” Zumae asked. The kid looked confused for a moment, then seemed to realize what Zumae asked.
“Uh, sure. This is Camp Half-Blood. I’m Curo, the Camp Director and Praetor of the Roman Legion. This Camp is a safe place for demigods. Which you are if you are here. You will---” Zumae interrupted the boy.
“What kind of gods?” Zumae asked.
“Greek, Roman gods. Why?” Curo asked.
“Because I’m Indian. I can’t be Greek!!!! I’m a full-blooded Indian!!!” Zumae snorted, getting upset.
Curo looked bored. “Yes you can. I’m Mexican and my father is Hermes, the Greek god of thieves. My boyfriend, Don Halls, is an American-Mexican. Both his parents were demigods. His father, Harvey Halls, was a child of Nemesis. His mother, Savannah Valdez, was a child of Hecate. So, you could be a child of any Greek god. Or Roman.” Curo rolled his eyes and shook his gold-tipped bangs out of his face.
“Oh. What do you mean by was?” Zumae asked.
“Don’s parents are dead. He is an orphan. Like me and my twin little siblings. Several others here are orphans as well.” Curo snorted and fidgeted around with his snake earrings.
“Oh. Where is your boyfriend This Don kid?” Zumae asked suddenly.
Curo pointed to a cabin decorated in red and black. “Over there. That’s Nemesis's cabin. That’s where he spends most of his time when we aren’t together.”
“Can I meet him? He sounds kinda cool. I’ ve never had many friends. I’d like to meet some new people.”
Curo shrugged. “Don't see why not. I’ll take you there now.”
Curo led Zumae to the Nemesis cabin. He knocked on the door quietly and a slender, fit Mexican boy answered the door. Zumae noticed that the boy, who was shirtless, had broad scars running down his chest and back.
“What are those from?” Zumae asked. The boy looked frightened and backed up.
“I-I. These were from my abusive foster home. I don't really like talking about it, though. And I’m Don. You must be Zumae Resha Devalar.” The boy chewed on his bottom lip and Curo leaned forward and kissed his cheek. The other boy broke into a smile and kissed him back. Zuma bit his lip. Hard. He tasted the blood before he realized what he did.
“Don, I was abused too. I know how it feels.” Zumae spoke quietly, brushing his teal dyed hair out of his face. Don looked up in shock.
“Are you lying? I can’t tell.”
Zumae shook his head. “No, I’m not lying. I don't lie. Not about being abused.”
Don narrowed his eyes. Zumae noticed for the first time that one of Don’s eyes was green. A bright serpentine green. He had the same color dye in his hair. He also had bright blood red and vibrant purple dye in his hair.
“How were you abused?” Don asked suspiciously.
“I was physically and verbally abused. I was also neglected.” Zumae looked directly at Don. “But by good luck I made my life less miserable by managing to drug my father at night when he got home from work. He stopped abusing me then.”
Don nodded. “I can relate. I was physically, verbally, and emotionally abused as well as neglected. My cousin, who was also my foster mother, was determined to break my spirit.”
Curo looked angry. Obviously he doesn’t want them talking about abuse.
“I don’t like talking about abuse or anything. Don, remember that we are still trying to get you out of your phase where you don’t sleep without me.”
Don nodded again. Other than that he didn't speak. Zuma noticed that Don had a tattoo on his neck. The tattoo confused Zumae. Same as the ones on his arms. He had torches on his left arm and another weird symbol on his right arm. As he turned, Zumae saw a tattoo of a scale on his back. Wonder what those mean? Zumae thought to himself.
These two are really weird. I hope they agree to be my friends though. I could use some friends. Even as weird as they are, I’m sure they'll make good friends. Zumae thought, tracing the scar on the back of his neck. -
So good Curo

Chapter 2
The Cutest Kid Who Ever Came to Camp Half-Blood
Devin sighed. He saw Curo leading a new kid around. This kid was interesting. He had teal hair and teal eyes. That made him think of his own style. Black hair fading into red. Red eyes that are magically colored like that. Devil horns and black bat wings, also magically produced. He had a weird demon tail and wolf ears. The demon tail was magically switched, but the wolf ears were actually real. His favorite color was red and that was all he really wore. Red and Black. His outfit today was a red short-sleeved sweater, complete with hood, with a black long-sleeve underneath. He had black ripped jeans and was barefoot. He usually hated wearing shoes.
Ever since he was claimed by Athena last week, he felt like he didn't belong. He felt more like a vampire than a human. He knew that a couple kids in the Apollo Cabin were were-wolves. But still, he felt weird being the only one with wings, wolf ears, and a demon tail.
But this new kid had an odd aura of magic and luck surrounding him. This kid must be a child of Hecate or Tyche. That explains the aura. Or maybe it’s something else. Devin doubted his sanity. He got really good at guessing who each new person had for a godly parent. But sometimes it made him wonder: Is he even sane? Or did he lose his mind when he first came here?
Devin sighed. He was sitting next to his window, watching Curo chat with Don and the new kid. Devin stood suddenly and walked to the door. Quickly Devin walked toward Curo and Don.
“Hey guys. Who is this?” Devin asked, his Australian accent thicker in his nervousness.
“This is Zumae Resha Devalar. He’s from India. He’s new here.” Don answered.
“Oh. Nice to meet you, Zumae. Is Resha your middle name?” Devin asked.
“Oh, no. Zumae Resha are my two first names. Advick is my middle name. Devalar is my last name. It’s kind of confusing.” The teal-haired boy responds.
“My name is Devin Anouk Rampiroma. I’m from Australia. You have a really nice accent.” Devin brushed his red tipped bangs out of his face.
“Your’s is nice too. Are--- Are you a demigod too?” Zumae asked.
“Yes, I am. My mother is Athena. Have you been claimed yet?” Devin asked the other boy.
Zumae looked confused. “What’s claiming?” he asked.
“Claiming is when your godly parent says that you are their child. Which parent didn't you know growing up?” Devin explained patiently. Most new campers didn't know what “claiming” is. He was usually the person who explained it. Especially now. With Annabeth gone and Malcom busy as heck, he was the one who helped with the new campers.
“I-I didn't know my mother. My father had several girlfriends, though he usually dumped them after the children were born. My father was also extremely abusive.” Zumae speaks quietly, a nervous quiver coming into his voice.
“Oh, I see. I got a vibe that you were a child of Hecate or Tyche. Do you guys think so?” Devin asked Curo and Don.
Don shook his head. “No. Not Hecate. Maybe Tyche though. I would be able to tell if it was Hecate.” Curo nodded in agreement with Don.
Devin nodded. “I understand. I mean, he’s still a demigod, right? It doesn’t matter who his godly parent is right now, does it?” he asked.
Curo shook his head. “Not now, no. Later, yes. If his godly parent fights with one of ours continually, then it isn’t good for us to be friends. But hopefully we will get along well!”
“Mmmmmm. Yeah. That would be best.” Devin couldn’t focus. Zumae was too cute. He needed to get away from him. Fast.
“Uh, sorry, guys, but I gotta go! See you guys later? Can I sit with you at lunch?” Devin asked.
Curo nodded. Don watched him suspiciously. Zumae alone waved and spoke.
“See you then, Devin!”
“Yeah, see you then, Zumae.”
As Devin walked back to the Athena cabin, he thought of Zumae. Oh man, that kid was cute. If only he knew who his godly parent was. Then maybe he could date him. Oh, why did the cutest kid to ever come to Camp Half-Blood have to come on this day?? Devin thought in distress. -
This is quite interesting. I like this a lot!
