1. Leaving
Galzenian stood in chains, just a few feet away from a massive heap of blue flame. The blaze slowly gathered into a human shape that burned so intensely Galzenian nearly passed out from being so near. As the fire drew closer it became harder to think. There was something I had to do but the flame burned away all thoughts and left only pain. I didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing; all I knew was that I needed away from the inferno before me. As the flame was nearly on top of me I summoned all of my will and let it burst out. The result was a whirlwind of green fire that was even more intense then the fiery blue shape. I shoved the power forward and blew away the chains and the opposing flame. And then I suddenly felt very cool, and all of the power vanished. I was in a dark cave the only sound was dripping water. Finally my seared thoughts began to make sense. I looked around and saw nine dark figures. They began to speak in very low voices, and I remembered that I had been in a test. No I was still in a test, The most important test of my life. One of the dark figures spoke to me “Galzenian do you feel the power within you?†I tried with all my might to catch up my thoughts but they just wouldn’t move any faster. Finally I had to answer without thinking. “Yes†was the only answer I could form. “Galzenian, Do you fear the power inside you?†I knew I had been taught the proper answers but I couldn’t remember what they were, “no.†the figures spoke softly to each other and then resumed the questions. “Galzenian, Have you control over the power inside you?†“Yes.†As soon as Galzenian spoke the words he knew he was doomed. He remembered now that this test determined whether or not he was a suitable fire wielder. A true fire wielder never has full control of the power within themselves and should always fear that. He had spent 10 years learning these philosophies and knew them well. He sunk to the ground on his knees and waited for the proctors to banish him from the use of fire. For a long time he sat in silence. Finnaly a Procter said. “You have been taught to answer all of the questions you have just been given correctly. Now your soul has also been taught to answer the questions correctly.†Galzenian’s head spun he thought he had just lost the right to use soul fire but it was just another lesson? The Procter’s saw through Galzenian, and his confusion. “you have just been granted the right to attend the next university of fire. Your mind was taught the answer to the questions but your soul remained ignorant. Had you answered correctly you would have learned nothing, and you would have failed the test. Now go and prepare to leave this place and continue your life.†-
Galzenian stood up slowly and walked toward what he saw to be the exit. He still couldn’t remember anything but the test but it was slowly coming to him. He stood outside the cave and looked down the hill at a palace, he began to remember that it was the university, and then his place in it. It took him the entire walk to his quarters to remember everything. When he did he suddenly laughed and realized that he was going to be a magus. No matter what happened from now on, nobody could dispute his ability. He ran the little distance between him and his room that was left. It was packed with scrolls and books, with very little to actually pack. He quickly stashed several fire wielders’ robes and his set of pens, and parchment. He thought about how he was going to learn not just about soul fire, but also about sword play, figure work, and science. He couldn’t wait to arrive at the new university.
As he walked down to the master’s office to get the final word that he could go, he remembered thinking that he would have a hard time saying good bye to this place. it had been his home for most of his life. But now it didn’t matter. Now all he could think of was his new learning.
In the master’s office, Galzenian saw that his 2 servants, Mordal, and Go’an were already packed and ready to go. The master sat at his desk and looked at papers until Galzenian said “excuse me, master. I have finished the last test and now I’m ready to go.†The master continued to look down at his papers for a long time, and finally said “I remember taking the same test you just finished. It was terrifying to put it lightly. And yet time after time, young fire wielders let it bounce off their backs and ready to ask me if they can leave in under half an hour. I always ask the same thing in exchange for my permission to leave the grounds. Never stop letting the last hardship bounce away, and facing the next head on.†Galzenian thought about that for a moment then summed up his thoughts in “yes sir.†The master nodded and Galzenian walked out, followed by his servants.
Two days later Galzenian and his servants stood on a cliff overlooking the University of Magus. The place were he would spend the next 7 years of his life. the main tower was shaped like a pyramid, with a flat top. Beyond that was a enormous semi circle wall that bordered the ocean. There were so many people that even from a ways off you could see them streaming in and out of the majestic structure. The sight was so distracting that Galzenian was ignorant of the two lines of lines of horses that were approaching until Go’an pointed them out. Galzenian finally took his eyes off the university and faced the oncoming riders.
As they approached they rapidly slowed. They were all dressed head to toe in geldrite armor painted black. All except for a red dot on there right shoulder. From somewhere within the horse train a man road out, he was dressed similarly but without a helmet and the red dot was on his chest rather than his shoulder. Galzenian recognized him the moment he saw him. It was lord Zelaron, One of the most powerful magus in all of Radze. Galzenian would have greeted him respectfully, but before he opened his mouth Zelaron said “good afternoon young man. I wonder if I may ask, are you here for the Grand exams?†Galzenian had heard of the grand exams, from the professors in the university of fore wielders. They were only held once every ten years. And lord Zelaron personally attended each one to recruit for his force. Galzenian couldn’t believe his luck, not only had he arrived just in time to take part in the grand exams but he was speaking to Druin Mino’s Grand Magus. Finally he had to answer. “yes my lord. I will be taking part in the exams.†“Excellent! Travel with us and we may talk. I am always eager to meet one of the competitors in the exam.†Galzenian happily accepted and fell in to the riding formation next to Zelaron. After the group started moving again Zelaron said “so fire wielder, what is your specialization?†Galzenian knew that in a few years he would be expected to form an original technique but he hadn’t yet. He didn’t want Zelaron to know that though. So he said “I just graduated from the university of fire so my technique is still in the works, but it should be ready soon.†Zelaron did not seem impressed. “ah, I see. Forgive for being expectant. You see I have heard of you before, believe it or not you’ve become something of an interest to the magus of my force. your proportions of soul fire are only matched by very high level magus, and they were not born with that power as you were, they acquired it over time. I must confess even I likely don’t have your strength. So it surprises me that your not more advanced.†Galzenian looked at the ground for a moment. It was hardly a secret that he had more power than was considered natural. But he was surprised someone as powerful as lord Zelaron would take interest in that. Galzenian was confused but more than confused he wanted Zelaron’s approval. He thought very hard for a moment, and finally had an idea. “Well, I do actually have a technique I just want sure you would approve of my learning power beyond my level.†“well good. then lets hear it.†“it would probably be easier to show you.†Galzenian concentrated on a bush they were passing, and reached out with his green soul fire, and on one side of the bush he collected some flammable elements out of the air and forced them into a gas bubble. On the other side he gathered heat. Zelaron became impatient and Sayed “I see nothing†Galzenian then pointed to the bush and just as Zelaron looked the bush erupted in flame. Not soul fire but true fire. Zelaron clapped. “bravo! However did you manage that? soul fire does not create true fire.†Galzenian smiled pleased with the reaction. He almost didn’t want to explain how he did for fear of losing some of the glory. “Well really all I did was switch around the elements in the air and gather the heat from the air, and then I combined them.†Zelaron had an awed look on his face. Finally he said “well we’ve arrived. I know now who to bet on in the exams.â€

I finished! Sorry, I'm really slow.
It was good! For a moment I thought Galzenian was the baby that woman had tried to save in the prologue but when I read about Leptar I thought it was him. It was amazing, Slim, you're really good. -
Ah crappers he's gone!

:D Thanks ILM and no problem, i love it that it's a nice herky length..
lol, galzenian is the one, but he's kinda the lamest of all the people in the story, until he realizes that, the real deal is that he has, all these friends that can help him.
