OK, in book 1 when she dreams of the shadow, the shadow is actually the soul digger, and he warns her that he's coming in to the future.
Apparently, if you dream of the soul digger, it comes after you, and that's why she has to go get the sword in book 5. -
why does it want her?

Roeth
Book 1: The Death Room
Her name is Rosella Oliver Ernest Thomas Halbert, but her initials spell Roeth, in book 1, she finds herself locked in a chest and left to die when she was 6 years old, (She later finds out she's a vampire and her family were vampire hunters) but days and weeks passed and finally the room in which she was locked in had been opened by an 11 year old boy named Athelstan and his family accept her, they too are vampire hunters, and learns their ways, but she can't remember anything from her past, and the only thing she has are four old dolls, that tell her a part of her past. (It says P.H. Pamela Halbert, her mother) -

Book 2: The family blood
5 years later, Roeth tries to find out more about her family, it starts out that she goes to an old guy the boy's dad told her about, who was the friend of Sir Ernest Halbert, Roeth's grandfather, and he was a vampire killer, though he was a werewolf, they had killed vampires together, this old guy lives faraway because he was a werewolf and didn't want to kill people, so he told her his story, then one day she finds the diary of Matilda Ormond, whom reveals a part of her family history, she was Ernest's wife, and there was a ruby necklace in her diary, then, she finds out she's a vampire when she kills the boy's sister, he takes her at midnight and ties her to a cross, she's dying but cuts the rope she was tied to, but now a werewolf is coming to get her. The old guy!
She survives and kills him (very difficultly) she buries him in a graveyard next to her grandpa's grave.
