Criminal activity was stressful as hell. The gun in her hand had a sickening weight, the mask pulled over her head was itchy and uncomfortable, the thought of what she planned on doing terrible and ugly. She looked over at ICEE with a great amount of doubt in her eyes. The girl smiled through her own preparations, glancing up at Leah with shining eyes, until she was set.
ICEE stood up after lacing up her shoes, tugging at the edges of her mask, and tucked her gun into her belt.
"Why do I have to be the one pointing the gun at people?" Leah murmured. She glanced down at the ground, and when she looked back up, the girl looked concerned.
"I'll have one, too. I'll take it out if we need it. We just need open hands if possible. Don't worry about it. It's gonna be a great bonding experience for us."
Leah ignored the last part.
"I don't wanna hurt someone. Why can't you have the gun out?"
ICEE pouted.
"I'm always the one holding the gun. How are you gonna use the one you carry if you never... well, use it?"
It made sense in some way, but it was still scary. There was a pause.
"Your nose looks adorable in the mask."
She smiled impulsively, immediately lowering her head so ICEE couldn't see. She couldn't laugh or look happy right now. ICEE needed to know how wrong she felt about all this.

"Listen, babe, I know you're already really upset about the robbery and all that, but I just.. Can you grab a few snack cakes while you're by that rack? I'm sorry, I know, I know, just please get me a few Ding Dongs or something. I'm f---in starving."
Leah's hands were already shaking, holding the gun as tightly as she could- no doubt the wrong way, but no one was correcting her, so whatever- until her knuckles turned white. The clerk behind the counter had his hands above his head, but the gesture looked half-assed. This guy was so sure she wouldn't shoot him it was hurtful.
She gave ICEE a pointed look, slowly taking one hand off the gun and reaching around behind her to get some snack cakes off the rack behind her. She heard a wrapper crackle and tightened her hand around it, but, upon picking it up, knocked several others off the rack. The sound of them hitting the ground drew her attention for just a moment, but within that time, the clerk had ducked behind the counter and resurfaced with a shotgun which he aimed directly at ICEE.
Leah froze in her place, dropping the cake she'd taken.
"Drop your gun." he instructed her with a stern expression that convinced her he would do it. ICEE, evidently, didn't get the same vibe.
"Shoot his face. He's not gonna do s---."
"I will shoot you."
"No you won't."
"YOU DO NOT WANT TO PUSH ME RIGHT NOW."
"Leah, shoot him."
Leah took a hesitant step back, lowering her head and glancing out the side of her eyes at ICEE.
"I don't know if I can." she whispered aggressively in her direction, as if the guy wouldn't hear her if she looked at ICEE when she talked.
"Are you serious? Come onnn."
She took a step toward Leah. Two shots went off consecutively. The clerk fell first. Then went ICEE.
For a second, Leah didn't see that ICEE had gone down.
"Oh my God! Oh my God, oh my God, oh my, I f---ing shot him! Oh, my God! Ooooh what do I do holy s---, ICEE, I shot him what do I do-"
She glanced over now, failing to process for a moment the hole in ICEE's shoulder in her panic. The steady stream of curse words flowing from the girl's lips were what pulled her back to earth.
"ICEE!" she rushed over to her, dropping the gun and crouching beside her. All around her, random patrons of the store gathered. She wondered vaguely if they intended to try to apprehend the two or if they would just stare like idiots.
"You gotta get up." she whispered. ICEE responded by spitting several more profanities before she pulled the gun from her belt and started waving it around wildly. The crowd backed off quite a bit with a collective gasp.
"f--- OFF I'M INJURED." she howled, and the store-goers did so with quiet obedience.
Leah offered her shoulder, which ICEE used to pull herself onto her feet, holding the gun with confidence with one hand. The other was pressed to her bleeding wound. ICEE looked around quietly, pointing the gun wherever she happened to be looking.
"We're taking the money behind the counter." she said calmly. The people didn't respond. "Also some snack cakes. Just a few. No. No.. All of them. All of the snack cakes."
So they did. Then they went and bandaged ICEE's shoulder and ate snack cakes and ICEE didn't make Leah hold the gun anymore. The end. -
