Ms. Silver glanced down at the clipboard in her arms, marking something with a pen. "You're early, Miss Laverre." She sounded annoyed. My face flushed and I avoided her gaze. There was something about her, maybe it was her dignified air, or the way she seemed to know more than everyone else, but I did not want to make this woman my enemy. "Sorry," I mumbled. Kat, who was not scolded for being too early, skipped to the desk beside me. "So, Lucky...that's a neat name. How'd you get it? Is it a family thing? Maybe just 'cause it sounds like Lucy? Hey, what's your second class? Mine's biology. I absolutley detest biology..." She was talking so swiftly I didn't have a chance to answer any of her questions, but she didn't seem to mind. Or maybe she just didn't notice. I tuned her out after about a minute letting my mind wander to other things. It wasn't long before the classroom started filling up. A few boys filled up the very back row of desks, and another girl sat on my other side. She gave me a half-smile as she sat down, but otherwise didn't acknowledge me. Her hair was the color of honey, and the curly ringlets seemed to bounce with her every motion. She pulled a book from her bag and pretended to read, but I caught her watching me in her peripheral vision. Her eyes were the color of the ocean, and they looked just as deep and mysterious. She soon turned back to her book though, and began reading for real, her gaze flitting over the words. Kat's attention had been drawn away from me, and she was now arguing dramatically with the boy in front of her. Ms. Silver quickly got the class under control, taking role with the same clipboard from earlier. "Daniel Ciano," The guy in front of Kat held up his hand. "Here." Ms. Silver nodded and moved on. "Samantha Gordon," "Here." "Kira Ralston," "Here." "Anna Wolfe," Ocean-eyes raised her hand. "Here." So that was her name.
