  But that doesn't matter. That's like saying a vampire falling in love with a human is too Much like Twilight. It's just stupid.

  No, but it is like saying that making your vampires sparkle is too much like Twilight. Broad genre strokes can be chalked up to inspiration or coincidence (such as all dwarves being short and stocky,) but story specific elements have no such safety (Dwarves are money hungry union members.)
