Thread Topic: Rantings of a mad man

I am Alpharius NewbieGreetings one and all to my humble thread. These are the rantings of a mad man presented by yours truly. For only in truthful ownership may it be so, for I am Alpharius.
Tis true that this is not my first account, oh no, but with any hope and the tiniest pinch of luck it will be the only one I require to sustain myself. For while by personal choice I vowed to leave this dreary site I once called home, the questions that keep me wake and the ramblings that I cannot share bode my return. So without any further adieu, I will start posting my thoughts. -
:3 hello there.

Veronica_v NewbieHI...Start posting...

I am Alpharius NewbieWhy is it that the sun is considered the sign of life? It is widely renowned for being the source of life although I highly doubt that a massive burning ball of plasma is the most accurate portrayal of life we can find.
A thunderstorm brings life to the world in more direct ways than the sun. Although I guess the sun is the source of the energy that makes life possible.
Although if we were in a system of entropy, even the sun wouldn't be enough to create life. Luckily for us however, we do not exist within a system of entropy. While the laws of nature do point that things travel from order to chaos, we have more than enough energy hitting us to make up for our own self destructions. If us and the sun were a closed circuit then putting out just enough energy to sustain life would be by its own nature not enough energy to support life. Life would literally push itself beyond its own capabilities until it died. Like a machine who's only design was to walk far enough away from it's outlet to unplug itself. Sad really.
But anyways, back to the sun meaning life. Maybe instead of going in to the whole idea of entropy, the sun doesn't actually mean the creation of life, but instead the enjoyment of life. Warmth, light, and comfort are all things associated with our encounters with the sun. But then again those are also similar words we would use for encounters with other people of whom we are fond of. Strangely enough that simile extends further. For while the sun is comfortable now, it would burn us and seem frightening if we were to go closer. People are the same way.
We are all in our own sense a celestial body who has all others trapped somewhere in our orbits. Those we keep distant see us as cold and unchanging. Those we love see more of us and perceive us as warm and loving. And it is strange that the ones who view us as hateful and scorching are those closest to us.
On another note, how would a star perceive itself? How well could it know itself really? It only sees one view of itself and even that is looking outward. It knows all the details of itself and is therefor biased in it's own judgement. So if the star can't judge itself then who can? Who would know the star best?
To wrap up the source of life rant, maybe life isn't just about being a collection of self aware chemicals. Life also involves the act of living. And finding joy.
And to wrap up the star rant, as a star I think the one thing that would matter most would be finding out what kind of star you are. And no matter how much we all want to deny it, our only view of ourselves is the most hateful. So go out and find someone your orbiting. And tell them what they are like from your perspective.
Life. Warmth. Happiness. We are all star stuff. Born in the birth cry of a star, rebuilt on the surface of Terra by the hands of Sol in the shadow of Luna. We are cosmic. We are celestial. And just like the star we all follow we are all alone. Distanced by nothing more than our fear that our heat will hurt those who orbit us. To some, our distance makes us cold. To others we are too much. But to a select few, we are just close enough to be loved.
I am Alpharius. Goodnight GTQ. Never stop shining. -
IHLAOY NewbieI highly doubt you're actually a madman, and more likely a 14 year old who just fished up his first philosphy book and now wants to attempt to look smart on the internet for E-peen points.
The sun is considered the sign of life because it compares back to the days when humans lived in caves and the dark was full of things that wanted to eat you. Over the years, the connection between the two became nearly inseparable to the point that the sun represents life. A thunderstorm doesn't represent life because, linking back the cave days, a thunderstorm would ruin your day and cause you to freeze to death.
Sad really.
What is your point here? Like, what is the point of this entire paragraph? Everything exists in a system of entropy, that is why the universe is slowly dying. Stars and systems are moving further and further away, cooling and dying in a great system of entropy. Our ability to kill ourselves places literally nowhere in this system. And the rest of the paragraph is just wrong, pretentious and other meaningless tosh.
I've already explained why the sun was associated with life, and I'm personally insulted that you think people are 'burning and frightening' when you get close to them. That's textbox bias.
We are all in our own sense a celestial body who has all others trapped somewhere in our orbits
Contradiction. If everyone is in orbit, we are all in place. Or hurtling away from each other. And again, I'm insulted that you think only people close to you can hate you. If everyone who knows you personally hates you, maybe it is you who are the problem?
Stars can't perceive themselves, they are not sentient. People, however, can have many views on themselves. People with depression hate themselves, happy people love themselves, angry people blame other people for their problems, and sometimes all of the above are one person, at different times. Assuming that people have fixed views on themselves is foolish. Only two years ago I thought I was the centre of the universe, and then I changed, and along with that, my view of myself changed.
No, the definition of life is, "the existence of an individual human being or animal." So that answers that question.
Again, insulted. Why do you want to insult me so much? I don't hate myself, I'm great. I'm not perfect, but I certainly don't have the 'most hateful' view of myself.
And finally, I disagree. A single human is barely cosmic. They are barely earthly. From 6 million miles away, earth is a tiny dot. A single grain of sand in a sun beam. And you, mr Alpharuis, are alone simply because you do want to believe that everyone else has the same 'heat' you do. So you distance yourself and make excuses about how you're too 'hot' for people to handle, and claim they would hate you and burn up if they knew.
You are not unique. You are not special. You are one human in a world of 6 billion. And you are certainly not alone.
I am not a star. Goodnight GTQ.
(Of course, this entire thing is just pretentious tosh made to LOOK smart on paper, but falls apart when someone actually sits down and thinks about it. The bit at the end is just my personal view on why Alpharius has the views he does. Fear of losing your uniqueness is pretty powerful.) -
I am Alpharius NewbieYou truly are the most rude, hateful, anal retentive, stubborn shrew I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. The offense you take to my writing is of no skin of my teeth. Nor your claims to my age, motives, or problems. This thread is named "Rantings of a mad man" not because I seek some form of uniqueness by claiming to be mad, but because the writing itself is sporadic and lacking the coherency of revision. It is done without editing or revising. Everything written was written because it was the next thought that took place. Much in the same manner of a mad babbling. Hence the name itself.
Your desire to jump to the conclusion that I seek uniqueness instead of describe my process, and then turn around and scrutinize every aspect that doesn't fit a literal definition leads me to assume that you are a rather bitter person who came here looking for something to be offended about and then proceeded to analyze every point I made with that biased.
The game is simple.
If you enjoy my writing, stick around.
If you dislike my writing, leave.
If you see something you disagree with, contribute.
If you wish to complain and throw personal insults without contributing, then why are you here? -
Veronica_v NewbieOKay...Aren't you taking everything a teeny-weeny bit seriously?
-
IHLAOY NewbieThere's already a name for that though; one you would be aware of if you'd actually have...you know, read a book in the past five years. It's called stream of consciousness, and is used in both literature (such as Ulysses) and psychology (William James). Calling it the raving of a madman displays that you are either unaware of this, and thus stupid, or are doing it to seem 'unique,' which fits into my previous theory. I had given you the benefit of the doubt and assumed the second.
Describing your process is fine, I have no problem with people displaying logical and sound connections to reach a conclusions. It is when people base their theories off of incorrect data and faulty metaphors that the entire conclusion falls apart. Everything I've said in my previous post is based off of reality and peer reviewed theories, thus correcting the mistakes you made in your own post and therefore, fixing the conclusion you would have made.
I am offended because you seem to be letting your own biases and experiences taint your conclusion even further than it is.
And, with this 'game' we reach the problem again. You expect people to come here and suck your d--- and tell you how 'unique and speshul' you are, and how 'deep and cultured' you seem to be when you spout absolute drivel like a backed toilet. And if they don't, well, they can just leave, can't they? It's not like their going to convince you of anything.
I did see something I disagreed with. I argued my point against yours. I am here to contribute my point, my opinions and to ridicule you for the less defined parts of your opinion. And you respond to this with...what?
'If you don't like it leave?'
'Don't scrutinze this too deeply?'
'I don't care if you're offended? (Which I will point out, is about the same as disgreeing with something)'
If you didn't wish to have a discussion, why did you post on a public forum to begin with? -
What I'm seeing here is a kid spewing their stream of consciousness out and just rambling openly what is on their mind and IHLAOY tearing them a new one because they don't agree.
The kid isn't insulting anyone. They aren't bashing others or claiming that what they say are the infallible truth. They're just posting. And here you go making the entirety of this place seem more hateful than it is. GTQ isn't built on attacking anyone for anything. IHLAOY if you want to just be mean to people for not thinking things out, then I would suggest spending 10 seconds in the Lounge. But this is a little much for just some kid who thought they had a decent idea and posted it.
For f---'s sake, I feel ashamed just being here with the kind of image you're presenting. Piss off and let the kid babble. -
IHLAOY NewbieWhy is he allowed to babble and be a pretentious c--- but I'm the exception? There are ways to carry yourself and your ideas without being demeaning and vague, and he has failed at both. If he possesses ideas that are without substance or merit, why am I expected to simply stand back and not inform of that? At best he learns and becomes better at what he does, at worst he clams up like he's doing and claims I'm the problem. (And while that is an accurate observation, I'm only a problem from the way I've decided to carry myself. While I could easily be nicer and give suger coated criticism and corrections, that is not who I am as a person.)
And again, you seem to be ignoring my post, where I explicitly state that I am insulted by his posts.
And man, f--- the lounge. The lounge is the reason my username is what it is. If I ever post in the lounge I want the moderators here to ban me on the spot. -
On a phone right now so please excuse any spelling errors.
You seem to be under the assumption that the only two ways to criticize someone is to be a b---- or to sugar coat everything. Being offended doesn't make your actions justified. You're still being a b----.
And this kid has literally posted 3 times and couldn't even hit a third of a page on his first thread without you coming here and attacking them for not having an opinion you agree with. It's honestly pathetic. -

IHLAOY NewbieIf being offended doesn't justify my actions, then why did you make it a point that he didn't offend anyone? That sounds like you're moving the goalposts.
And again, it is not his opinion I have a problem with, it is when people base their opinions and theories off of faulty logic and incorrect data, both of which he has done. I have merely corrected him. -
On the contrary, I haven't moved the goal post. I've simply stated two different things.
-He hasn't attacked anything or anyone nor said anything to offend.
-Claiming you're offended does not make your actions justified. Just mean.
But whatever. It doesn't matter what I say and it wouldn't matter what he said except for the fact that you're insulting him over it.
But what does matter is that you were so terribly offended and hurt that this newbie had an opinion that you had to go and find a way to make yourself feel superior. Alpharius hasn't posted in nearly 48 hours so with any luck you ran them off. Congrats. -
IHLAOY NewbieGood.
