i feel ashamed i messed our plan up. But my connection with my bird was too strong. "You can really feel your birds presence?" Furtim asks. "Yes." i reply. "but i've never read anything about that." "it's not really a thing you can understand by reading Furtim." "The flying part of the compages ceremony is the first thing a baby will ever remember." "you get thrown off of the island near a nest, that might sound cruel." "But they do it near a nest with one month old birds on purpose." "The birds are old enough to fly, but they haven't learned it yet." "When the baby falls, the chicks will probably just watch, but there is allways one in the nest that can't just watch without doing anything." "after a moment of hesitation, the bird will jump off the edge of the nest, and catch the baby in the air, and will learn how to fly with his or hew new, life long partner. For both the baby and the bird, the first flight is the first memory ever to be made.

forgot a part, sorry :P
"but my and Nubes's birds did something special." "they didn't hesitate even a moment." "They saved us even before reaching the bottom half of the island. " "And, we can even remember all of the cermony, not just the first flight." "You should write all of that down." Furtim says. "Maybe..." i reply. i look up and see my bird flying in circles above us. -
I couldn't talk, but I thought it was pretty stupid that they just threw babies down a cliff and hope they'll be saved. Of course, I wasn't really in a good mood for anything. Leaning against one of the crates in the wagon, I roll my eyes upward. The bird is following us. I'm not particularly excited about this, but when I glance at Avis, she looks quite happy about it.
-
A while later i wake up finding out the wagon was moving. And of course that i fell out i fell asleep. I looked around. It was getting morning and the sun was going up. Everyone was up and moving. There was no way to escape now. We would just have to escape once we were in Dark kingdom. But tht was very far away, i couldn't even see one mountain top in the distance.
-
I shiver a bit. It was impossible for me to fall asleep. I glance at Furtim, who's still asleep. Avis is awake though. I glance at her, hesitate, and finally say, "How long is your bird gonna follow us?"
-
"Wel..." "Forever!" "They won't leave their owner." "And if they get captured, they'll do anything to escape." (Should we skip the endless journey?)
-
(Yeah Sure.)
Three days later....
We're approaching the Dark Kingdom. It's huge towers seem to leave dark wounds in the sky. Shuddering, I wrestle against my bonds again, but they're tied so tight they're leaving chafes on my skin, open and raw. I've been gagged again. I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to block out the wild panic that's clutching at me. -
The closer we come to the kingdom, the more snow falls on us. I shiver from the cold. I wonder where they would take us. Would we go to some sort of camp first? We could also be sold in the city. I look up and the clouds get thicker, i couldn't see even one island in the sky. My bird was still following us, even though it kept getting harder to fly through the blizzard. I wondered what Nubes was doing. If he was actually looking for me. But the Dark kingdom soldiers invaded my village. Could he... No, otherwise i would have already seen him.
-
They should have given us warmer clothes. I'm shaking like a leaf, from cold and fear. I glance at Avis, who is trembling too. We're approaching the Dark Kingdom gate. It swings open with a loud creak, and soldiers rush forward to make sure we aren't enemies. When they see that Dark soldiers are in control of the procession, they allow us to past. We're entering the Dark Kingdom.
-
"Dammit." Furtim cursed under his breath. "How did it even come this far?" I started to hum the song of hope, one of the sky kingdom anthems. Furrim listened to it for a moment then said: "why are you singing that song?" "It doesn't make me hopefull at all, rather homesick. I stopped humming and didn't say anything back. I looked around. I heard a lot about this kingdom. In school and from a book. But what i learned was allways through the point of view of air kingdom. They allways said every person from dark kingdom was evil, but would that be true? I actually allways believed in it that there were nice people there. And i still thought so. I hoped even someone would help us.
-
That song was stuck in my head now, practically driving me crazy. The wagon lunches through the gates, and I fall backwards with it. Mentally cursing, I struggle back towards my original spot. Avis has a hopeful look on her face. What could possibly be positive now?
-
The army got on a small mountain path. I was scared we would fall. The higher we got, the colder. "I wish i had something to read..." Furtim said. "I'd rather be home in bed, but complaining won't help either." I said "i'm not complaining. He said. It diDn't take long until we started to argue.
-
We briefly stop for a lunch break and they ungag me. Eating the stale piece kg bread they gave me, I turn to glare at them. "Shut up already! Arguing isn't gonna get us anywhere." The soldiers aim their spears at me while I talk, ready tl react if I try to call any animals. I ignore them and sink back onto a crate. I wonder about AmberLight. I miss her terribly.
-
I sigh as River tells us to shut up. Furtim and i don't talk for a while. Until i said: "i'm sorry." "I'm sorry too." He replies. We stopped arguing. I felt very uncofortable with the guards and their spears pointing at River. But it must be worse for her. It was quiet for a while. "So..." I said, trying to start a conversation. "If you could have anything in the world right now..." "What would it be?" I asked. "That's a hard question." Furtim said. We looked at River, awaiting an answer from her.
-
"Freedom." I answer quietly, "and AmberLight."
