I'd really like to know! :P In Australia we wear uniform which I like because it reduces bullying and hides differences concerning body shapes...
However, in Summer it is so hot and mufti would be so much cooler and breathable...
So, do you wear mufti each day and does this then develop into problems such as bullying? -
Well in American schools, I've seen that it really depends from school to school what people wear.
There are uniforms, like what you're talking about. They usually consist of a polo shirt and dress pants.
There are dress codes. Much more lenient than uniforms. More of a list of things you can't wear, than a list of the only things you can. I had a dress code for a while. It pretty much summed up to No graphics on shirts, and no jeans. Still very open, but with more limitations that nothing.
And the school I go to now has no form of uniform or dress code. There are still a couple things that will get you in trouble, but nothing to really hinder your personal choice of clothing. I prefer it this way. -
It really depends on where you go to school in the states. It varies.

Depends on the school you go to, and where you are.
In public schools, there are generally rules about what you can and cannot wear, but very light ones.
If you go to a private shool, it's a little different. One private school I saw didn't really care what you wore, as long as it was modest, and another one I've seen was like barberbob mentioned. The school's color polo shirt, the girls had to wear a pleated skirt, and the guys had to wear dress pants.
Homeschoolers have no dress code. Yay for us!! lol
No, but I'm with barberbob. Too true... -
I find that your Catholic Schools will require a more formal uniform. My whole life I've had to wear a white, button down blouse and a skirt to school while boys have to wear a button down shirt and dress pants. (They're assigned uniforms, of course.) We also have to have polished shoes and uniform socks.

Taking from my experiences in 8th grade, wearing a uniform would not stop bullying. You have to talk eventually. They corner you. Force you into group work. Once that happens, you slip up. And when you slip up, they've got you.
No, I did not wear a uniform. -
I've always wanted to see what it was like to go to a school with uniforms. :P

Here we wear uniforms Middle school and Elemtary.Highschool is whatever the hell you want as long as its like, decent.College is even better, you can have your hair long and such.

I attend a Catholic school, and we wear uniforms, although they aren't quite as bad as other schools, usually. We're required to wear a navy or white polo, and khaki or navy pants. The middle school students have to wear belts and tuck in their shirts, while the younger kids run around with untucked shirts like raging psychopaths. Socks are supposed to be white or blue, and navy or red sweatshirts are optional. And then there's the whole hair color, jewelery, etc. stuff that I hate. e.e

More formal/ private schools tend to have uniforms than normal/ public schools. In my school (I go to a public school) we have a dress code, but it pretty much says that guys can't wear basketball shirts without anything under it, girls can't wear spagetti straps or anything strapless girls can't wear any shirts that are too low cut, and girls can't wear shorts or skirts above where your finger tips hang down to. So pretty much our dress code just minimizes the amount of sluts.
And, what's a mufti? I've never heard of one before -
We dont have uniforms. We have a dress code that says no leggings with short skirts, and stuff like that. We can have piercings and we are acutally aloud to wear mini skirts and show your belly button.

I go to public school right now (I used to go to a Catholic/Private school). Here, they have a rule with the fingertips, how your skirt or shorts can't be above them. What I hate is that the cheerleaders are exempt from this rule- ongme days, they wear their uniforms to school, and when they sit you can practically see their underwear. But if I (a non-cheerleader) were to wear that, I'd get in huuuge trouble.
