Thread Topic: Editing posts?
-
It can be a real pain when you're making a new thread and hit the submit button with just a blank post. Or when you mess up on something you're typing in The Library. It would help with the occasional multiple threads that say the same thing. But in order to be able to edit your posts, you would at least have to be the experienced status.
Again, I'm not saying this should be a thing, but maybe some of you would find editing posts useful. -
Le1F NoviceUr getting extremly ocd about gotoquiz, I sugest u leaf
-
Yes, I agree that editing would be useful. Most of the forums have this feature. GTQ needs this too. We can edit our posts in, say, The Library by simply posting them once again. But we can't do that while replying to a question. I think this would be useful.
-
I don't know about this. There's some disadvantages in this idea.
-
I think this is a good idea, if you look back on your posts and think you don't like them
-
Im absolutely with this idea
-
I'm not sure about it either to be honest.
-
Unfortunately on GTQ, even editing posts would probably still cause problems. Having only experienced and above users would help, but somehow someone would find a way to make it annoying. This is the only website I know of where you can't edit posts, but maybe it's better this way. :P
You know, it's really sad when we have to question whether or not editing posts should be allowed. If this place had tons of moderators on all the time, it would probably be fine. But we don't. -
Honestly if given the ability to edit posts, who eould be allowed to besides the user who made the post? mods and GTQ Guy? And whats allowable edits? Shpuld there be a maximum to the times a post can be edited? If so then what and why that number? This brings up sonething debate worthy...
I would be willing to be a moderator if you're saying we need more, I'd probably make a good one but that's not my business to say, in fact none of it is so if you want then just ignore this, like my other...two? posts about becoming a mod have been -
Those are interesting questions. I don't think the mods would need to edit any posts, so each user could only edit their own posts. And I don't think I've ever seen a limit to how much you can edit a post on forums.
What if moderators had the ability to see the previous posts before it was edited in case it was offensive? -
GOOD IDEA. :D ME LIKEY.
-
Ehhh
Like previously said, this has its ups and downs
For an up, it does mean most experienced users can correct posts for good purposes such as stories and role plays/soaps. I know this feature would be helpful then. But on the down side, most trolls would use it to edit their posts when someone accuses them of something to make it look like they did nothing wrong. But its a good start, i'll give you that. -
Perhaps not just moderators could see the previous post. It should have a tab or something where you can click "see previous post" for everyone to see what was originally there.
-
Yeah, that way no one can edit an offensive post without anyone knowing.
-
That could work, dark. Nice thinking.
