Thread Topic: hey if some moderators aren't here anymore
-
I've deleted several troll's posts as well as posted on threads that had serious harassment, fighting, or inappropriate content. Honestly, we're not here to stop the small fights. If it becomes serious we will stop it, but if it's something like light name calling, it's not our place to stop it. And yes, some spamming has gone ignored because someone wasn't on or it wasn't major. You cannot assume we're here to stop everything.
Also, it's been stated that some of us stalk rather than post. Timothy and James are two examples. Ting has on occasion shown up, though I dunno if she wants to be one. Either way, just take that in mind. -
Ting has actually said she didn't want to be a moderator, if I correctly remember. She then said that she'd rather have Selena become a moderator/take her place.
-
just want to say that the only problem I see with the mod system is that we don't have necessary abilities such as deleting posts without penalizing a user- as in the case of someone who posted something personal at a younger age and doesn't want it floating around here- or a proper means of stopping spam and trolls
changing mods every year sounds like a pain in the ass and a threat to the consistency of moderation and setting a limit to how many times one could be a mod sounds like a really good way to lock the good people out until we're handing the position to newbs and morons
Tenny, I like your stuff but would like to say that we do in fact "do jack". Unfortunately, our jack can't be wasted on the petty s--- these people spew daily because if we click it too frequently, it gradually becomes less effective until we have no pull whatsoever, and then there will be no means of slowing down the real spam/trolls. If drama is wreaking havoc on the forums, fine, I'll do something. I'm not going to intercept in a few kids b----ing at each other. They're old enough to be on this website. They can get through their own arguments. -
Dark, I'm not blaming you! You're actually one of the Mods that do something, and I've seen it. I'm referring to other times when there was, in fact, a mod active, but decided not to do anything.
-
Maru, I totally understand and agree, but where do you draw the line? Two full pages of "No Subject" and no posts by the same user went ignored.
-
Maru, that's why I wanted this to happen.
-
Good argument, Maru. I do agree that this actually has some setbacks, but I'm actually for the idea. I'm not saying that I want the whole moderator team to be switched out every single year, but maybe we could replace a few, just for now. If they seem to be doing their jobs better or worse, we'll act upon how which direction that decision takes a turn.
I'm also not blaming you for not doing anything. You and Dark are probably, in my opinion, the most active of the moderators. Some others, still active, just not as much. And then there are a couple who, eh, could actually show up more. Like Kish, Ting, and, well, I'd hate to say it, but Keturah. -
I sort-of agree with Maru, and mostly agree with Dark.
There hasn't been much at all that's serious enough to have the mods called upon. Although, the few times it has become serious enough, the mods did little.
Wait.
(Insert Conspiracy Keanu meme here)
What if there WERE lots of serious bull going down on GTQ,
But then the mods deleted all of it? -
All of it? Maybe there were people who didn't need to have their posts deleted. What if they contributed in the argument, but calmly stated their opinion without actually doing anything wrong or calling anybody names?
-
I can easily believe that happened, but if it did, I didn't see it. I'm sorry.
I like the concept, Darkness.
I'm not for changing moderators out for the hell of it. If they're doing a suckish job, fine, if they're inactive, understandable. But not just because we can. -
okay now I'm just frustrated
We've only deleted the offensive posts. Don't start making up things such as "we deleted all of it" and then saying things like "well if they did there weren't people who needed it". I don't understand why you guys won't listen to us. We warn people before we delete posts. -
Dark, I don't think I saw that thread, but I'm all for it.
Joker, even then, some people would have seen it at least, then noticed. They don't have deleting powers anyway. -
Same. Sadly, the admin(s) are not here to check it out, so.
-
I'm only agreeing to this idea because I honestly think that some moderators, well, might need to be replaced. I'm not doing it because I think others would be better, because that's just a matter of opinion. But then again, I think there are only three moderators out of the total of eight who have been inactive enough to be considered demoted or something.
-
I don't blame you, Maru. There were only three or four of us on, only one was a Mod. It made it frustrating to find old threads.
I agree with that.
