Thread Topic: hey if some moderators aren't here anymore
-
I don't quite know what a bpok is.
You don't? -
huh? are you...serious?...
-
I think a change of mods would benefit the site. I mean, it would allow people to have a break, and create more of a democracy on the site. Not sure if everyone else wants that, but I think it would be beneficial for the status to be passed along each year or so.
-
I agree to that. Sounds like a nice idea. And if any of the previous mods want to become a mod again, they have to reapply themselves, maybe?
-
Like the president. And maybe limit their time of being a mod to two times. Because, you know...the president only gets to be the president twice.
-
I recommend Heph.

I think that if a Moderator officially leaves or is gone for a long period of time, they should be replaced. If a Moderator isn't doing a good job, they should resign or be made to leave. If the Moderators are doing good, why replace them?
I appreciate the idea of a democracy, but after a while, we're going to run out of people. It wouldn't be fair to users who aren't qualified or don't want to be a Mod. The mature and older users should be given some say in what goes on here; I don't think electing a noob to be a Mod would be a fair situation.
If someone wants to become a Moderator, they could ask to be made one, but other people have to agree that they're a right fit.
Right now, most of the Moderators don't do jack. For the most part, they stay in their conversations, unobservant and uncaring of what goes on with others. I stalk threads a lot and see "fights" break out, but with no Mod giving a care to stop it.
I don't think this is fair, but at the very least, we have Moderators. If we don't think they're doing a good job, or if they don't see something, we should draw their attention to it, not just complain about it.
Yes, there needs to be better Mods. Not more (too much "government" is a bad thing), but at least ones that make use of their Moderator status. -
I agree with you partially, but towards the end where you say, "Yes, there needs to be better Mods. Not more (too much "government" is a bad thing), but at least ones that make use of their Moderator status.", I kind of got a little confused there.
-
Br0wnie: Some people talked about adding Moderators, to make more of them is a good idea. I respectfully disagree. There doesn't need to be MORE Moderators, just ones that take (and do) their "job" seriously; ones that put their "power" to use.
-
I agree. If some moderators aren't active or don't do their job correctly, the best thing to do would be to replace them, right?
-
Yes exactly, but there needs to be a majority rule of, at least, most users before that happens. I don't think the role of Moderator should be taken lightly.
-
We do our jobs. Just because you don't see us posting with our posting power 24/7 does not mean we ignore people who need our help.
-
Dark, I am aware, and was in no way suggesting that you guys NEVER exercise you abilities, but there have been several instances when spamming and insulting have gone ignored.
-
Correct. If the this idea is approved, perhaps we could further the discussion.
Let me put the emphasis on "some". Both Kish and Carri are highly inactive, and maybe others, but I'm not as sure as to actually seriously blame anyone. -
What Tenten said.
