I noticed some of you are concerned that the creator somehow cheated or did something bad with this quiz.
1st let me be clear, taking your own quiz many times does not get your quiz to the front page. GoToQuiz checks something called your IP address so that it only counts you the first time you take a quiz. There's no credit for taking it multiple times.
What seemed to happen was that the Essex quiz got shared around Facebook at a crazy pace. This is rare, but not impossible. It caused a ton of people to take the quiz, which overloaded our server. If you look at the Facebook likes for that quiz, it's currently at 54K. That's another way to know this is legit, because Facebook only let's a person "like" a page once.
So basically all these people from Facebook were taking the quiz and our server couldn't handle it, making the entire site super slow today. There was no virus or anything like that. -
