Lil- Eh, that's kinda dumb in my opinion. It would be easier to just come out and tell them, but males and females alike like to make it hard on themselves.

1) Playing hard to get can work if you are flirty at least sometimes, otherwise the guy will probably get annoyed and move on. You also risk just confusing him, though.
2) that's a lot better than awkward silence!
3) too much eye contact might be a little intense. Seems like staring.
4) that's just a personal choice which varies by a guy's taste.
5) I can tell you one thing not to do, which is to "test" a guy with a jealousy game, for instance by flirting with his friend and seeing how he reacts. It will usually just make the guy feel depressed or pissed off. But every guy is different. A shy guy will fall for you if you try to draw him out of his shell and get to know his personality, whereas a popular guy might respond better to the challenge of a game of hard to get.
