But I like someone else… This friend hasn’t said anything yet but the way they are towards me..? Maybe it’s just in my head. Should I wait for them to say something or is there a way I can casually bring it up without bringing it up?

If you make your intentions with them immediately obvious then they won't get let down when they try taking it to the next step. You don't even have to direct it toward them. A simple, "you know I'm really happy being single rn" or "I'm not sure what I'm looking for but when the time is right I'll know" in a conversation can go a long way.

My friend had a guy who was obsessed with her and would slip hundred dollar bills into her backpack and follow her home because she didn't let him know that she wasn't interested until it was too late . I doubt that your person will go that far but to be safe you should let them know where they stand, even if you don't say it directly, so you can avoid and future issues or hurt feelings.
